Name: Marnie Majeec
Alias: Ring-Mistress
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Nationality: Allondell
Appearance: As the cliche goes, Marnie isn't small, she's fun-sized. On the tips of her toes she's able to claim five feet, four inches and weighs one hundred fifteen pounds. Her hair is a ginger-orange and doesn't quite reach the back of her neck. Her eyes have irises of grey, her skin, once pale white, is now tanned enough to generally blend into most crowds. A small pixie-nose and lips that are almost always spread into a sarcastic grin complete her face.
Though small, her form is well-endowed with a curvacious appearance. But then, her hands show marks of callouses, and while her form is pleasing to look at, a careful observer might take note of the fact that she's quite well-muscled, with a healthy dose of faded bruises and scars along her hands and arms.
Marnie's clothing is firmly split into two categories, and spread quite easily between show-woman and what could be described as her off-duty attire. When on the job, she wears a form-fitting (and some might call revealing) black suit-shirt and bell-bottom pants (while they flair out at the bottom, the pants hug the rest of her body), adorned with golden buttons and cufflinks. The suit has a plunging neck-line, though a red leotard underneath does aid modesty in a small manner. High-heeled black leather boots and an elegant cane made of Cherry wood finish out the seductive and eye-catching attire.
When off-duty, Marnie's likely to be caught dressed in worn brown trousers, white button-up shirt and an aged brown leather vest. A simple belt for the pants, sensible (worn to the point of almost falling apart) boots, with a pair of workman's gloves stuffed into the back-pocket of the trousers. An (almost) pristine black and white fedora tops off the laid-back ensemble.
Personality: Marnie's a two-fold kind'of girl. Most would kindly call her rambunctious, or free-spirited. A crazy carnie who's always up for chugging back a few pints and then slamming her empty (or not, as it may happen) mug into the nearest object of her distaste. Most notably those who hit on her.
Random, willful, a touch of arrogance, sometimes violent, a girl who takes great pleasure in messing with others. A jester with a sarcastic grin (and tongue), she most definitely is. But then, she's also a faithful lieutenant to her carnivale, ever-ready to jump to the aid (with fists or words) of her fellow carnies, be they rousties or actors, she doesn't care, and comes to the aid of either.
She's known for her fast-talking diplomacy, her off-beat charm and odd way of looking at things. She also has the annoying tendency to switch readily between the common tongue and the little-known and ever-changing carney lingo, much to the confusion of outsiders.
A lover of poker, sarcastic jokes and running scams on unbeknownst marks. And though she doesn't admit to it readily, she loves putting on the grand show, the entertainment of it all. All of these things, Marnie is. In fact, one might think that was all of her. But while the girl doesn't exactly have a quieter side, she does have a slightly less-sarcastic one. And occasionally shows glimpses of being a quick learner, and having a wisdom beyond her years when it comes to caring for her carnivale (this is helped in no small part by the presence of loyal advisors and fellow carnies).
No stranger to the vicious and greedy ways of the world, in her quieter moments she displays what many would call a jaded personality. And it's a sure bet that if you see that part of her, she's come to actually trust you. But then, as most carnies do, she's got trouble trusting outsiders, and while slightly more willing to give it a go than most of her fellows, the odds still aren't in a stranger's favor.
Possessions: A beat-up trunk full of clothes, a pair of brass knuckles (always slipped into her vest pockets) and several different knives (that she usually keeps about her person). The only item really worthy of note is the necklace that never leaves her person. A simple aged leather band with a quite-regular button strong upon it, (the button of the sort that go on coats).
Special Abilities: Marnie's a ring-master of a carnivale, and is adept at her craft as only one born into the carnivale can be. Able to wow crowds, scam them, sometimes both. She's also something of a diplomat, though you couldn't tell by looking at her. Something about her fast-talking and occasionally charming personality gets through to people, and she's able to diffuse many a situation with a pleasing word and a cheerful smile.
Of course, If that fails, she's just as ready to fight, if the need arises. Though small, Marnie's life has taught her a sort of feral rage that makes up for her size. Having seen more than her fair share of bar-brawls and scuffles with varying groups, Marnie's an adept close-combatant, graduated from the school of hard-knocks and full of street-smarts to boot.
History: Allondell Carnivales are made up of two types of carnies. Rousties and Actors. Rousties man the rigs, the machinery, they put up the tents, see to most of the livestock, and aid in the occasional scam, when the need arises. They're a rough-and-ready bunch, and generally stick to their own crazy jargon, unintelligible to outsiders.
Actors, on the other hand, are the showmen (and women) of the carnivale. They man the booths, perform the complex acts (hench their name), and take the time to bath regularly. The unspoken rule of the carnivales is that the two groups work together so both can get along. But they don't mix. And camps are firmly divided into two sections.
Marnie's parents apparently didn't get the memo. Her father an elegant Actor, her mother a tough-as-nails Roustie, Marnie grew up the odd-girl out in an already odd environment. No stranger to hardship (a carnie's constant movement is only one of the more obvious trials of their lifestyle), Marnie grew up trusting only her fellow carnies and her parents, that is, until her mother found a better provider from a rival Carnivale. Thus, "mom" was crossed off on Marnie's already short list of trustworthy folks. What else can be said? Marnie grew up a carnie.
Ever-traveling, never staying in one place for too long, lest the locals grow angry over being constantly scammed. Marnie's only friends were the other carnies and their lone elephant, her constant companion through most of her life. She quickly learned the ways of the carnivale, and just as speedily took the reigns of varying acts as the needs arose.
By her sixteenth birthday she'd taken over the third ring of their carnivale, and did well enough that by eighteen she was in charge of the second ring, second only to her father in charge of the first ring.
Never one to follow rules, and always willing to leap any boundary tossed in her way, she didn't stay just an Actor, but danced nimbly back-and-forth between Roustie and Actor, able to raise the big-top or run the show, she quickly became invaluable to her carnivale, and stayed that way due to most people not knowing how to react to someone who bucked the traditions in such a way as she.
Miscellaneous:
Marnie's history is short and vague for a slower reveal. But can be lengthened here should it be asked.
