This thread is for an alphabetical listing of any reptilian creatures you can possibly encounter in Ymaggion. If you wish for this list to be expanded, go suggest a creature in the Creature Suggestion thread. Like animals, birds, fish, and plants, the reptiles of Ymaggion have evolved in strange and marvelous ways over the many years before and after the Cataclysm that marred the world. They have grown to have a variety of forms, varying to the small, dog-like cavern-dwellers to monstrous, multi-headed beasts, and have come to inhabit nearly all regions of the planet. Many feel that some of these reptilian creatures share ties with the ancient Dragon Tribes that populate Ymaggion.

A-B[/b] The Aeralfos is the stronger, flying cousin of the Lizalfos. Despite their relatively small wings, they can easily fly and glide through the air. They carry lance-like swords and small bucklers for defense, and wear a helmet adorned with beads on strings and various necklaces, as if a symbol of their status among whatever social grouping they may have. Aeralfos fly about on their wings, staying out of range of melee weaponry, using bucklers to deflect incoming projectiles thanks to extremely quick reflexes. When they see an opening, they'll dive down and attack with their lance-like swords. Aeralfos have a weakness in their equipment, as their bucklers can be grappled with grappling hooks, allowing their enemies to draw them down to ground level and force them into melee combat. Aeralfos are usually found in high mountains or floating fortresses, and defending the high ramparts of castles.[/ul]

C-D[/b] A Dodongo is a large, two-legged reptile that can breathe flame. Dodongos are slow-moving creatures due to their lack of forelegs, but have nearly impenetrable hides, and can grow to the size of a large horse. They're capable of breathing a wave of flame at their enemies by sucking in air before blowing it back out in a stream of fire. This attack is also its weakness--when they suck in air, a well-placed explosive can be drawn in by their powerful lungs, and they'll reflexively swallow it, allowing the explosive to destroy them from within. Also, the hides of their tails is thinner than the rest of their body, and easier to pierce with weaponry. Baby Dodongos are the young of these fire-breathing lizards. They lack legs and their fire-breathing ability, and their skin has not grown the toughness seen in adult Dodongos. They slither on the ground towards living creatures in order to eat or to defend themselves, but otherwise live buried underground in soft soil. The oldest and strongest of Dodongos can evolve into the gigantic and terrifying King Dodongo, a gigantic, four-legged Dodongo as large as a building. These gigantic creatures have impenetrable hides all over their body except over their snouts, and can cause much more damage with their fire breath, but retain the same weakness to explosives as smaller Dodongos, which stuns them and allows one to attack its vulnerable snout. King Dodongos can also roll up its body into a ball and roll around as a means of defense. All types of Dodongos are typically found in hot places, such as lava-filled caverns or on the slopes of volcanoes. They are known to congregate, and it is extremely dangerous to engage an entire pack of them.[/ul]

E-F[/b] Millions of years of evolution have produced the Endtrails. Descendants of the mighty Tyrannosaurus Rex, the Endtrails are huge, powerfully built bipeds with a thirst for battle and no concept of mercy. Their huge frames and massive strength are more than enough to rip most opponents apart limb from limb. The Endtrails are the elite of the Dinosoid troops. They attack from a distance with ion gauntlets that fire powerful energy charges or by lobbing energy grenades, while up close they attack with powerful claws and the blades mounted on their weapon. When fighting a wounded Endtrail, a player may see and hear him tapping out a button sequence on his ion gauntlet. Then one of two things will happen. Either: 1) The Endtrail will wave at you and fade to near invisibility for about thirty seconds, during which time he will continue to fire and evade fire as he normally would in combat. Or, 2) The Endtrail will look to the sky and spread his arms wide. This means that he has activated his self-destruct mechanism, and will explode violently within seconds. FirebornThe Fireborn are a bizarre Dinosoid species with the unique ability to resist injury by flame. Born of centuries of genetic and magical mutation, their unique resistance means they can pursue their prey through fire or lava without sustaining injury. It is rumored that the blood of these creatures runs as hot as the magma in the planet itself. As testament to this fact, the footsteps of the Fireborn have been known to set forests ablaze. Fireborn, as such, are typically found within lava-filled caverns and on the slopes of mountains, and will fiercely attack any foe that encroaches upon its territory. There are rumors of even larger, more dangerous breeds of Fireborn living in the deepest reaches of the planet, unseen by the eyes of mankind.[/ul]

G-H[/b] The Hydra is a massive reptilian creature with the unique feature of having multiple heads, and is related to the a similar, sea-faring monster known as the Scylla. Each head is serpentine in appearance, with snake-like eyes and a narrow snout full of curved, sharp teeth. They are attached to a long neck connected to a wide, two-legged body sporting a long tail. They are born with a single, head, and like the Scylla, will grow up to five more as it nears adulthood. They attack using their jaws, attempting to devour smaller creatures whole. If a head is severed, it will quickly regrow two more in its place, increasing its lethality and the range of its neck. Like its sea-based cousin, the Hydra can only quickly regenerate up to twice the amount of heads it was born with, and if all of them are severed, the Hydra will die. Should any heads be severed after this time period, but the Hydra escapes or prevails over its enemy, it will slowly regrow the lost heads over several years.[/ul]

K-L[/b] The Leaper is a large, quadrupedal reptile that gets its name from its distinctive gait: quick, alternating diagonal leaps. These creatures have rounded, but muscular bodies covered in brown and black hide, long, thing tails, and round, grinning heads with glaring white eyes and a mouth filled with teeth. They make a distinctive, high-pitched squeal, and their unusual movement patterns can make them hard to hit with ranged weaponry. They attack with strong claw swipes and powerful bites. Leapers are also adept swimmers, but are much easier to hit in the water, as they do not move in diagonal patterns when submerged. Leapers live in large packs within water-filled caves, and come out of these caves when they hunt for food. When you find a Leaper in the wilderness, there's a good chance there's a cavern infested with them nearby. LizalfosA Lizalfos is a vicious, intelligent bipedal reptilian. These creatures as savage fighters, taking up swords, shields, and armor in battle. They are quick and strong, dancing on their feet while engaging foes. Some have been seen with axe blades tied to their tails, and others have been seen armor, even up to full plate mail. Lizalfos are usually found in pairs, and are located in most dungeons and lairs, guarding key locations. They are cunning, tactical creatures who show excellent displays of teamwork over the course of battle, with one often covering for the other if it becomes injured, and setting up flanks against single foes. It is thought that Lizalfos have their own society among themselves, but evidence of this is scarce, as they attack sentients on sight.[/ul]

Q-R[/b] The Raptoid is the highly-evolved descendant of the Velociraptor, a gold-skinned bipedal Dinosoid with sharp claws and sharper reflexes. Fast, sleek, and extremely violent, they attack with a ferocity that is truly terrifying, using sharp claws and talons to rend their foe apart. They can leap great distances, and know a wide range of fighting styles. Raptoids are usually found in jungles and rainforests, congregating with Endtrails. While remarkably intelligent for its kind, the Raptoid is generally not as intelligent as their stronger, larger cousins, the Endtrails. They still, however, possess all of the instincts and capabilities of the Velociraptors they evolved from, making them dangerous in packs or when encountered in forested locations.[/ul]

S-T[/b] A large, and truely monstrous creature. The Tigrex appears for all the world to be a massive, lizard-like creature with extended fore-arms with wing protrusions, and a lengthened neck. It's bright, orange scales and royal, blue stripes are symbolic of the creature. The Tigrex is well known as one of the most violent creatures in the world, turning to bloodlust at the sight of any intruder or potential prey. Any land it claims as territory will most assuredly be cleared of any other predators, ensuring that the Tigrex alone lays claim to all prey items within it's domain. Perhaps the scariest feature of the Tigrex is not it's sheer brutality or it's incredible strength, but perhaps it's endurance to extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, which allows the Tigrex to inhabit a vast scope of different landscapes and environments. Even the mightiest and craftiest of sentients weigh carefully the consequences of facing a Tigrex head-on. [/ul]

U-V[/b] The Velociraptor is the most notorious of saurians, a vicious and cunning reptile with distinctive claws on their feet. The Velociraptor runs on two legs and can leap great distances, attacking with the large claws on their feet, as well as their sharp talons and their mouth filled with razor-sharp teeth. These saurians are extremely intelligent and work in packs, often with one raptor distracting the prey while others close in from the sides. Raptors have been known to figure out modern, human inventions, such as doors and fences, and learn how to get around them. Velociraptors are usually found in jungles and rainforests, and occasionally in fields that have very tall grass, often vying for prey and territory with the larger, more dangerous Wyvern. They are most commonly encountered in the Outlands of Valtheran, where hunting them is a prestigious pastime of many hunters. As such, Velociraptors are some of the most dangerous creatures on the face of Ymaggion.[/ul]
