This thread is for an alphabetical listing of any sentient beings you can possibly encounter in Ymaggion. If you wish for this list to be expanded, go suggest a creature in the Creature Suggestion thread. Throughout the history of the world, Ymaggion has been dominated by mankind. As life began the endless journey of evolution, certain species rose to power, forming the seven Temples of Power that harnessed the fathomless power of the Primals, opening the way to magic. Five races grew and prospered and furthered their power through science. And then the cataclysm came about, changing the face of the world. To evolve is to survive and prosper, and mankind has most certainly survived.

C-D[/b] Dwarves are one of the five dominant races of Ymaggion. They are a race of short, burly people who originated in mountainous regions, who made their living taming Griffins and working with stone and metal, becoming master smiths, engineers, and architects. They prefer living underground, and enjoy hard, strenuous physical labor, which has led them to be naturally strong, and have high endurance regardless of their gender. Physically, they rarely grow about four feet in height, and a number of males grow long, coarse beards that drape over their chests. Dwarves generally have a lifespan of one hundred and seventy to two hundred years. Having originated in the mountains of northern Zailleon and northern Kemei, the Dwarves were forced to survive in harsh conditions, which toughened them and taught them to use the land to their own benefit. Today, most of the greatest marvels were created by the hands of Dwarves, using their machines and intellect. They are a proud race, often quick to anger, but just as quick to make amends over a good tankard of ale. Magically, they are the weakest of the five races, and many dwarves choose to never fully rely on magic alone, often preferring to instead combine it with technology.[/ul]

E-F[/b] Elves are one of the five dominant races of Ymaggion. They are a race of tall, refined people with long ears and a penchant for magic, having originated from the continent of Allondell. Elves are among the world's most powerful mages, having been naturally attuned to the mana lines of the world. Their bodies are naturally tall and often slender, with males often reaching heights of six to six and a half feet, and their hair is usually kept long and flowing. The physical trait that stands out the most is their ears, which vary in length but taper into points, often giving them superb hearing. Notably, as an Elven mage reaches high amounts of magical power, their eyes will take on a blue or green aura, marking their status as archmages. Like humans, their skin can comes in a variety of colors, though they tend to differ from those of humans. They are the longest-lived of all the dominant races, living up to ages of three to four hundred years, and a number of elves have lived beyond to five centuries. They speak with a lofty, refined tone, and they are known to make fine diplomats and entertainers are a result. They do not have strength or endurance as high as the other races of the world, as much of an Elf's daily life involves the use of magic. FaerieFaeries are a diminutive race of magically-adept winged humanoids that live in most regions in the world. Faeries are the smallest of sentient races, rarely growing past seven inches in height. They move about generally on two pairs of gossamer wings, and their bodies alight in a magical aura as they tap into their powers. Faeries tend to live near sources of water, and often frequent cities, but generally do not involve themselves in the lives of other sentient races. They are capable of speech and can easily communicate with others, though their size gives them a higher-pitched voice with an often musical tone. They are very much in tune with both magic and nature, but their fragile bodies makes them avoid danger at all costs.[/ul]

G-H[/b] Humans are one of the five dominant races of Ymaggion. They are the shortest lived of races, generally between seventy to ninety years, with a scant few barely reaching a century of living. Despite this, or perhaps because of this, humans are often cited as living the most fulfilling lives, often doing much during their times. They are the most well-rounded of the five races, and the most plentiful. They may not be as magically adept as elves or as strong as dwarves and orcs, but the bodies of humans allow them to find a balance in all aspects of their life. They have adapted to survive all kinds of regions, whether through magic or through science and technology. They originated on the continents of Zailleon and Kouchi, in their central regions, and often had to co-exist with the other longer-lived races. As a result, humans found themselves complimenting the existences of others, making up for the physical disparity of mages or the magical ability of dwarves, and as a result, have helped tie the other races together into a mixed society.[/ul]

K-L[/b] Komola are one of the five dominant races of Ymaggion. A race of beings that have adopted traits of various other creatures in the world, their physical traits are amongst the most diverse. Komolas evolved among the races of the wild in Kemei and Kouchi and across hundreds of islands, and are natural empaths, giving them stunning affinities with the various creatures on the planet. Many can have feline like ears and facial features, odd body colorations that mimic natural camouflage, and nails longer and naturally sharper than others'. Their short durations of their lifespans are second only to humans, as they generally live between one hundred and thirty to one hundred and ninety years, though some can reach up to ages of two hundred and ten years. Often, they are physically superior to humans and elves, making them excellent fighters and rangers, but their minds have more difficulty comprehending science and magic equally. Spiritually, however, their lives are as rich as orcs, and it is not uncommon to see Komolan druids and beastmasters. Korin GuardianKorin Guardians are the terrorist soldiers who protect their organization's hidden bases. These men and women are fleet of foot, dressed in light and sturdy clothing that allow them to move quickly in the harsh environments of the wilderness and the conquered cities torn by war. Chain and kevlar are worn beneath warm coats of brown slashed with red, increasing their lifespan as they play a dangerous game against Stamarian warriors. They are armed with maces and other blunt weapons that give them the power to crush through the armor of their oppressor's soldiers, and they have become physically strong in order to more effectively wield these brutal weapons. They often arm themselves with one or two pistols when having to face against opponents of lighter armor, and they are not above using the most dishonorable of tactics in order to prevail. Korin Guardians have distinctive emblems on their chests and sleeves, marking them for what they are: fearless, dangerous warriors who would dare stand up against the Holy Empire. Korin OperativeA Korin operative is generally indistinguishable from an average citizen. They hide among the conquered peoples, waiting patiently for the perfect moment to strike against the soldiers of Stamaria. They gather intelligence and craft cunning plans, using their minds to prevail over the swords and bullets of their enemies. In battle, they wield knives and pistols as they duck behind cover and deliver quick, decisive attacks against their opponents. They will use whatever tricks they can to win, including magic, pilfered technology, taken hostages, and the home turf advantage. A Korin Operative must never be underestimated, lest another Stamarian find themselves bleeding to death from a sudden shot or a silent flash of steel in the dark. Operatives work in cells hidden about conquered cities, or in remote locations difficult for the Empire's hand to grasp.[/ul]

O-P[/b] Orcs are one of the five dominant races of Ymaggion. A strong, proud race of tusked, green-skinned humanoids that originated from the rugged lands of Valtheran. Orcs have large, muscular bodies and are naturally taller than human beings, and their skin comes in various shades of green. Their lower jaws have a pair of large, sharp teeth that look like tusks, jutting out from their mouths when they are closed. They hold the position of the second-longest lived race, as their hardy natures and tough constitution extends their lifespan between two hundred and eighty to three hundred and thirty years, though many meet premature ends in their frequent battles. Orcs are known for their great brute strength and fervor in battle, but despite common misconceptions, they are not bloodthirsty, mindless killers. orcish culture feature a shamanistic way of life, worshipping and honoring spirits and nature, rather than gods. Among their warriors, orcish shamen and druids are common, but true sorcerers and the like are rare among their kind. While not adept with magic, orcs are even less inclined for technology--most of their culture made due without it, and many intend to remain so today.[/ul]

S-T[/b] The Knights of Stamaria are various men and women that make up the greatest warriors among the ranks of the Holy Empire of Stamaria's military. Taken from the best of their soldiers, Stamarian Knights command the lower members with courage and intelligence, using shrewd tactics against their enemies during battle. Adorned in masterfully-made, kevlar-reinforced armor, they wield custom enchanted swords awarded to them upon attaining knighthood, and are often seen astride powerful horses and wyverns in battle. They are adept with magic, often using it to bolster themselves in combat or to disrupt the enemy ranks, allowing them to crush through the weakened openings and claim victory for the Holy Empire of Stamaria. Stamarian SoldierThese armor-clad warriors make up the backbone of Stamaria's military strength. These men and women, unlike the soldiers of many other kingdoms, are fully adorned in shining plate mail that is reinforced with kevlar to increase their protection. They are dangerous at both close-range combat and ranged fighting, as they are armed with powerful blade-rifles that can switch between a single-edged sword, and an automatic rifle in the blink of an eye. They are trained in constantly harsh conditions to become the best of the best. Many learn the ways of magic as they rise through the ranks in their efforts to attain knighthood and become the best of the best. They patrol regularly through the streets of Stamaria-controlled cities, and are experts at blitzkrieg combat that leave the enemy reeling and crushed before them. Taron MageTaron Mages represent some of the most powerful sorcerers in the world, long ago bonded under one name. Gathering the most adept magic wielders from the far corners of the world, the Taron Mages are comprised of the most elite spell casters. The ability of each Mage is often very different from Spellswords to Element Masters, Priests to Necromancers. Traditionally garbed in the black and blue robes of the Taron Magi, these mages often represent hope on a battlefield and are commonly placed stategically in Stamarian forces to bolster the attack or defense. While often assigned missions alone or with several other Stamarian Soldiers or Knights, a Taron Mage's power will increase exponentially while in the company of several other Mages. Tsuminarian RangerThe harsh regions of Kouchi and the technological prowess of the kingdom of Tsuminar has produced the finest commandos, known as the Tsuminarian Rangers. They go through the fiercest of survival and weapons training, and are trained in base infiltration, sabotage, and vehicular hijacking in order to maximize their combat potential. Clad in ominous gray and black uniforms, Tsuminarian Rangers are armed with powerful plasma rifles, assault pistols, long combat knives, and utilize advanced targeting visors and communication arrays. They are fast and stealthy, striking quick and retreating before the enemy ever has a chance to retaliate. These are the men and women that spell victory for the advances of the Holy Empire of Stamaria as they sneak in and ruin the powers of the enemy.[/ul]
