"Vesper, the Lightning Temple is up ahead. Wake up."
"mmphf."
Thomas sighed, "What is it about cars that makes her so sleepy?" He questioned to no one in particular.
Aya rolled her eyes, grabbed a bottle of water from the dashboard, then twisted in her seat and chucked it at the peacefully sleeping doctor.
There was a squeak of surprise and Vesper's eyes snapped open as the bottle collided with her stomach. She stared with confusion at the bottle, then looked up to meet Aya's mischievous eyes, "There are kinder ways of waking up a sleeping, worn-out mage." She said groggily.
"Yes, but this was quicker." Aya agreed pleasantly, already turning back in her seat. "And your face still has the camouflage on it, you should work on that, doc."
Vesper's hands shot up to her face and she groaned in exasperation as she realized she hadn't ever removed the paint. "Ooooh drat, this stuff is horrendously hard to get off after the first few hours." She muttered.
Soon enough, however, Vesper's medical nature kicked in and she glanced over to Scept. "Hey, how're you feeling?" She questioned. "It's been a while since our last stop, and we were only out of the vehicles long enough to change some clothes and wash up a little. Not much time to move around and stretch your legs. Is your nose okay?" She asked, adding in questions almost as soon as she thought of them.

The boy's hand unconsciously rubbed the bridge of his nose at the mention of it. With a sigh, he looked out of the window at the passing landscape, now almost all desert as they came closer and closer to the lightning temple. He'd gotten a little sleep in the car, but for the most part their quick departure from the Stamarian compound had left him still largely lacking in rest. On top of that he certainly felt like he had a lot more to think about now. Realizing he hadn't answered the question yet, though, Scept responded to Vesper, "It's fine." Between lack of sleep and mixed feelings about everything now, he'd been more quiet than usual since his rescue from the Stamarians.
The sun was just beginning to come up over the horizon now, it seemed, and Scept could feel the urge in him becoming more and more fulfilled as they came within mere miles of the temple itself. Now confident this was the place he really was supposed to go to, Scept wondered once more how exactly he knew he was supposed to go here at all. Was it just that he had some connection with the element of the temple? It'd not be the greatest of all ways to end the journey, finding out that they'd gone all this way for nothing.
Despite his tiredness, though, the mage was also beginning to feel a tinge of excitement. What if something really was here? He shifted in his seat with anticipation, flexing his fingers as if he could grasp it already. Running a hand along the back of his neck and finding something to scratch at, he considered asking how much further it'd be, but he already knew the answer for that, and he still didn't really feel like talking. With a bit of resignation toward patience, Scept rested his head against the hot glass of the window, watching the road in front of them as best he could from the back seat.

Thomas listened absentmindedly as Vesper asked her questions and Scept responded in his usual way. Already he was working out in his mind the time it would take the Stamarians to mobilize a strike force. And that was if they even knew there were Outcasts still in country. The Stamarians would know which mercenary unit it was who'd attacked them, but then again, it had been a small outpost and even as a threat, the Outcasts were far down the list of Stamaria's enemies.
That the Stamarians would cut all ties with them and attack any Outcasts still in their territory, Thomas had no doubt. But he doubted that they would actively pursue either the Outcasts or the Hell Legion. The Outcasts were known to operate out of some base high up in the Everfrost, not exactly a hospitable place to go hunting for a small military unit.
And the Hell Legion? Small though they were, they'd made quite a name for themselves in Kemei as local heroes, punishing rogue undead bands and defending the population centers from marauders. Stamaria would find it hard to hunt down such a well-liked unit without great effort.
But still, they'd need to get out of this particular country within the next few days, or at the least, keep moving.
"Scept," he questioned, cutting into Vesper's line of thought and just as easily cutting off her line of questions. "Do you know how long you'll need at the Temple?"
