Micronesia
Further off into the more remote reaches of the Oceania Territories is a vast network of small islands that, together, form the island chain of Micronesia, a forgotten tropical paradise. These many islands come in various different sizes, though none of them are truly large in the sense that kingdoms can form on them. All of the islands in Micronesia have hot, humid weather thanks to their location near Ymaggion’s equator, and are mostly covered in dense jungles spread out over the coasts and slopes—only the occasional volcanic island creates a break in the scenery. Though it is hidden beneath the jungle foliage, the islands of Micronesia display a wide range of landscapes, including mountains, cliffs, coves, and meadows. Oftentimes, many of the different islands are bunched together, having been lifted up from the ocean floor by the same seismic movement, and as such often lack volcanic peaks. Due to the hot climate and low altitudes, none of the mountains in Micronesia grow cold enough to harbor snow, unlike the larger isles closer to the south, such as the microcontinent of Aube.
In the past, Micronesia was one of the sites of a brutal war, where Valtheran and Aube had to unite against the superior forces of Tsuminar. That war is long over, but the remains of it are still seen in Micronesia, as many of the islands contain old fortresses used by both sides in the fighting. Many of them are run down and unsuitable for military occupation these days, though much of the old artillery cannons were left behind on the battlements. Some computer and radio equipment was also left behind, and are miraculously still operational. Nowadays, Micronesia is mostly ignored by Aube and Tsuminar, and now they are a haven for pirates and smugglers, who occupy the jungles in small forts, villages, and in the abandoned military compounds, living in small buildings formed of bamboo and wood. Occasionally, beached shipwrecks have been refitted for living by the pirates, and are used as bases and guard stations by them.
Micronesia, however, is not without its own native dangerous. The thick foliage hides many native creatures, many of them dangerous to mankind. Murlocs, both unaltered and mutated in variety, have made homes on the coasts and the coves, and often attack pirates when hunting for food or other supplies. Deeper in, wyrms hide in the trees, and dangerous Raptoids prowl on the hunt, though luckily without the aid of larger, more intimidating Endtrails, which are strangely enough absent in the region. The jungles have hidden worse terrors, however, and occasionally, the jungles are home to Medusas, who petrify intruders on their domain without a second thought. Kargarocs hunt over the treetops and in the mountain cliffs, making travel to higher ground a risky proposition for pirates and other travelers. Volcanoes, dangerous enough on their own, are home to fierce Chimeras and Fireborn, who luckily rarely venture into the jungles. Travel between islands can be risky as well, even for the pirates patrolling the waters. On occasion, when fleeing from Gan, Sea Serpents migrate closer to the islands, where they can happen upon pirates. Sharks are also a menace in the waters, feeding off the discarded foods and on hapless pirates. Both creatures are often hunted by pirates and murlocs as a source of food.
