Name: Alexis Vister
Alias: Alexis Saint
Age: 35
Gender: Female
Nationality: Allondell
Appearance: Much like her daughter Laramie, Alexis has a thin, willowy grace to her appearance. She stands at five feet, four inches in height and weighs around one hundred five pounds. Her skin is quite pale and delicate to behold, though she retains enough color to maintain a healthy look.
Her hair is soft, and a gentle brown in color. Long enough to reach a little past her neck and is generally tied in a pony-tail. Her face is a little on the narrow side, though with a mysterious, haunting beauty to it that makes it seem more open than it truly is. Her eyes are set back slightly and shadowed by her bangs, they are a gentle blue in color. Her nose is crooked with the look of being broken and then badly set back into place, while it somewhat mars the beauty of her face, her usual forthright body-language makes up for it. Her lips are thin, and generally without lipstick, (though on the rare occasion she wears lipstick, she always sticks with a ruby red in color) they seem most at home in a gentle smile, the contours of her face easily slipping into an expression of happiness.
Her neck is thin, though not overly long. The rest of her body is curved and extremely feminine in form, generally causing heads to turn and stare. While she is muscled, she’d never be called extremely athletic, having more the look of someone who simply takes care of their body. Not of someone who regularly challenges various and random creatures to arm-wrestles. Her arms are delicately built, though they bear many scars and horrific bruises along their average length. Her fingers are also average in length, but look as though they were broken at one point in the past before healing. This gives her fingers a slightly off-kilter look, though they are fully functional.
Her legs also show signs of some form of heavy abuse, the smooth skin is criss-crossed by dozens of faded bruises, and a few darker stripes of a more recent nature. Her feet show the same signs of abuse, the big toe and pinky toe of her right foot have been entirely removed, causing her to limp when walking and giving her a stutter-stop motion when running.
Attire: Alexis’ attire is fairly haphazard, consisting mostly of odds and ends that she has managed to throw together. Her socks are a mismatched pair of woolen things, one brown, the other a garish yellow. Her brown leather boots are surprisingly well-made, considering the rest of her appearance, they reach almost up to her knees. Their laces are a dark blue that doesn’t seem to fit well with the brown leather. Her pants are off-white Khakis, a little too short for her, they reach down to a little above her ankles. A beautifully made belt of colored rope (red and orange) secures the pants to her thin waist.
Her too-large shirt started off life as a light-brown dress shirt for a man, somewhere during its travels it exchanged its beautiful black buttons for plain white ones. A few holes and threadbare spots were covered with pieces of blue and green cloth, and the arms were shorn off at the shoulder, leaving the wearer’s arms bare to the elements. It is usually tucked into the pants, though at times she will simply let it hang loose around her. Over that she wears a dark brown cotton vest, lacking any sort of buttons or fastening hooks, it hangs open. The only adornment upon her head is a patched and threadbare cap with a large brim to cover her eyes, it is mostly black, with a few patches of pink speckled around it.
Personality: Hard to describe, that would be the best way to describe Alexis’ personality. Something of a conundrum, even to those that knew her. Fiery, straightforward, with a dash of arrogance. Her parents would call her rebellious, her friends would call her a free spirit. Everyone would agree that she rarely answers to authority of any kind. Extremely confident in her magical abilities and her graceful appearance, she can be flirty at times, romantic at others. Much like her daughter, she shies away from most men on instinct, though she is generally at home with women and a certain few men she trusts. Clever, street-smart and a bit of a tease as well, all of these things are a part of her. As a mother she is extremely protective of her child, and still holds a very special place in her heart for her former husband. Her driving force, what caused her to lose her husband and her daughter as well, is her absolute dedication to the cause of the Korin. She believes whole-heartedly that the Stamarian Empire is evil and the Korin will one day bring it down, she prays that some day she will be there to see it, to aid the Korin in their fight.
Possessions: N/A
Special Abilities: Alexis is a powerful mage, primarily dealing in illusions and powerful mind spells.
Mind-Reave: Simple and to the point, this is the most direct way for Alexis to do damage. She simply reaches into an opponent’s mind and damages it. Damage can range from a blinding headache (length varies, generally no more than an hour) to death via shock.
Illusion-Weaver: Alexis can make her opponents see just about anything she wants them too, or not see, if that’s what she wants. Capable of making enemies think they are blind, to making them see hosts of enemies all around them. This ability has many counters, the most obvious of which is that she can’t fool electronic equipment. With a few days preparation, Alexis can ingrain a certain illusion into an object that can be given to others (generally a rock or small hand-held item), though once activated it generally lasts only for a day or so. While she technically can cast separate illusions for each of her opponents, she generally sticks with one, as it takes less concentration. The more opponents she is engaging, the harder it is for Alexis to keep up the concentration for illusions.
Empath: Alexis can sense the emotions and intentions of others, this ability is limited in range to roughly 100 feet or so.
Telapath: Alexis is like her daughter in many regards to their powers, though of course hers are more developed than her child’s. Like her daughter, she can speak into other’s minds, generally the range is anyone within her line of sight. But her telepathy has a far greater range in two particular cases, she has found that she can read the thoughts, and even see through the eyes of her daughter and her former husband. They are the only two who’s eyes she has been able to see through.
History: Born to Victoria and Philip Vister of Allondell in 69 S.R. Alexis lived a fairly average life, for one gifted with magical powers, that is. From a very early age she was trained in the art of using her powers. Her every waking minute was spent in utilizing her powers, growing more finessed with them, more powerful. Her parents pushed her harder and harder each day, seeing in her the prospect of greatness where all they had managed to achieve was mediocrity.
Unfortunately, while Alexis excelled in her magical studies even at a young age, she never received much of the other things parents provide their children, love and true care among them. This caused her to rebel and seek out a place where she actually felt loved, leading to many painful turns in her early years. Drugs, sex and just about anything else imaginable, she did it all in her teenage years, trying to find a sense of belonging and worth when she didn’t find it at her home. Beautiful, and smart, she was usually able to get herself out of the trouble she found herself in, but still the search continued. Until one day, she heard of a whispered religion and god. Korinus.
Finally, she had found a way to belong, and everything seemed to get better in her life. At the age of nineteen she found a handsome, sarcastic man named Thomas Saint, whom she promptly fell in love with and married. They had a child barely nine months later, whom they named Laramie. Alexis settled down into a house, continuing her studies in Minervum while her husband was moving around the country as a mercenary.
But her fascination with Korinus soon grew to something more, almost an obsession. She soon began to hear rumblings of war, rumors that the faithful of Korin were going to bring fire against the evil Stamarian Empire. Alexis wanted to be a part of that, she wanted her husband and child to be a part of it as well. Sure that there, they could become something important. Dreaming of a time when her daughter could live in a world free of the Stamarian Empire, she tried to talk her husband into moving with her to Cher Plek, away from Allondell which she now viewed as evil. But upon learning that she planned to use their daughter in this fanatical war that she thought was coming, he refused. A fierce argument broke out, during which Alexis lost control of her emotions, picked up one of her husband’s guns, and shot him in the head.
Realization came mixed with horror at what she’d done. But she could not stop, her obsession would not relent. So she whisked her daughter away into the night and traveled to Cher Plek, where she made contact with fellow believers and began aiding in whatever way she could. While she did not take part in the actual mass murders of 94 S.R. She did aid her fellow Korin in escaping the Empire’s wrath, weaving illusions to throw enemies off their trails, allowing bands of Korin to disappear into seeming thin air.
In the next year she made quite a name for herself as a powerful Korin mage, utterly devoted to the cause. But unbeknownst to others, the cause of Korinus consumed her, and in 95 S.R. She left Cher Plek with her child, returning to Allondell with the purpose of bringing the purifying flame to the unsuspecting citizens of that area.
Fortunately for Allondell, she was found before she could do any serious damage, and soldiers supported by mages (to nullify her powers) quickly moved into the small shanty-town where she was living and captured her. It was then that she realized how far into obsession she’d fallen, sacrificing everything for her religion. Sickened by her actions, she made one last final effort to save her daughter. She caused an illusion to form in her daughter’s mind, showing the young Laramie a scene where her mother died horrifically.
She did this with the intent of frightening her child away and to safety, and it worked. Laramie ran, believing her mother to be dead. And Alexis was captured. The Stamarian Military helped with the lie, though for their own purposes. Telling all that asked that they had killed the Korin terrorist, rather than capturing her. They hoped through interrogation that she, a mid-level Korin, would lead them to many other cells.
For nine years they tortured her and abused her, her magic nullified with specially-made sedatives. And for nine years, she made no attempt to escape, lost into depression and viewing it as her penance for losing herself so completely to madness. Nine years in hell and she made no attempt to escape. But then, something changed. A guard accidentally missed an injection and her powers reawakened, it was then that she learned of her telepathic link to her daughter, and with great surprise and joy, her husband as well (she had thought him dead). Realizing her daughter was in danger, she quickly crafted an escape plan. And Within a month, her careful preparations paid off.
