The Mydaeni Tower
The Mydaeni Tower is the only remnants of the long lost civilization of Tenamon. Rooted into the mountain itself, the Mydaeni Tower is a mystery to even the greatest historians. According to legend the tower was already built into the slopes of Mount Tenamon when the civilization began construction around the mountain, but the doors were firmly shut to anyone who would try to get in.
Many people find it impossible to believe an entire tower could be created out of the stone, especially one of this size, but the physical appearance and traits of the tower’s structure says otherwise. In the sunlight, the Mydaeni Tower looks like the purest ivory stone, and at night the darkest Onyx. With a width of nearly 400 meters and a height of a kilometer, the concept of building the Mydaeni Tower is far beyond plausible with any current technology.
The front gates are enormous, based at the top of a long flight of stairs with obsidian gargoyles flanking all sides. Only a slightly darker shade than the rest of the tower, the doors are without handles and covered with ancient runes. Should one gain entry through these, they would find themselves in a large anteroom, leading into a hallway that reveals the central room. In the middle of this is a lift that will take you through most of the tower, unsuspended by ropes or mechanics, it rises on command of the occupant.
The inside of the tower is surprisingly less ominous than the outside. The ceilings are high, the hallways wide, and the color of the walls is consistently white throughout nearly the whole entirety. Portraits and suits of armor line all the hallways, more gargoyles being found on balconies as the tower goes further and further up. Scores of rooms for all sorts of things mark the huge tower, and it has the impression that a vast number of people could live here comfortably, much like a very vertical castle.
As the tower gains height though, the security rises. Even after the tower was taken and repurposed by the Emperor of Stamaria, some of these doors took some time to be coerced into opening. Each of the last five floors serves a very unique purpose, unlike the rest of the tower, which could be redesigned and repurposed to do nearly anything. The fifth to the top is a tremendous single roomed-floor. Ten altars sit at the end of this room, and the colors are slightly darker than the rest of the tower. Rows and rows of stone benches line this room, all leading up to the blood-stained darkened altars, a pale blue light glowing around each of them.
The fourth to the top of the tower is split off into many luxurious rooms, equipped as a small house or large apartment might be. All rooms have their own balconies, leading to spectacular views above the clouds. Each of these rooms has a private staircase to the next level, a massive library. While not the size of the library in Minervum, the library in the Mydaeni Tower is full of rare and ancient tomes, rare artifacts lingering in thick cases that cannot be moved or opened. In the center of this library is a large spiral staircase, leading up to the second to last level.
This floor resides as both a room for meeting and leaving. This floor is smaller than the rest as the tower gets narrower the higher up it goes. This room is surrounded by strange doorways, some opened and some not. Through the ones that are opened, images of places all around the world can be seen, and going through one of these gateways will take the user there. Some doorways hold images of unknown places, and those sent through have never been heard from again. A large room for meetings is also on this floor, separated from the portal area.
Finally, a closely guarded lift will take the user up to the highest level, reserved for only the lord of the tower. This room is the only thing that is completely unchangeable, the large regal furniture a part of the architecture, with a large stone pedestal in the center of the room, draped with a silken cloth that cannot be removed. The balconies here lead to the top of the tower where, with instruments available, one can see nearly the entire continent of Kouchi, even the edges of Allondell.
