*Vrrrmmmmm!!!*
A stranger rode up to the edge of a cliff that overlooked the Earth Temple of Cher Plek. In the middle of a thick and almost prehistoric-looking jungle, it was the very picture of an Indiana Jones movie.
Removing his helmet as he stepped down from his vehicle, the stranger stepped towards the ledge and gazed downward at the ancient, stone monument. Somehow, he couldn't help feeling that the word "monument" didn't quite capture how big it was.
Temple would be too obvious. Palace?
He suddenly quirked his brow and quickly scanned the surface of the temple with his eyes. Utilizing the binoculars function of his Spec Shades to examine every last detail readily visible to him. A few strange creatures crawling here and about, but most importantly...
No entrances...
He narrowed his eyes in disappointment, a change not readily visible to anyone who couldn't see through his jet-black eyewear. He turned and began to don his biking helmet again. As his face settled into the snug view of his helmet's visor, an interesting sight greeted him...
"Ssshah!"
A pair of bright, golden reptilian eyes set in the head of a man-like lizard-creature.
"WHA-" *THWACK!*
Before the man could even finish his sentence, the lizard swiftly whirled around, and landed a blow square on his chest with it's heavy tail, sending him careening over the cliff's perilous edge. Two more ambled up close behind and marveled at their leader's bold surprise-attack, crawling up to the ledge and barking in triumph at their victim's descent.
*KA-SHINKT!!!*
"Shah!?"
One of the two hecklers suddenly felt something tack against it's metal bracelet, holding fast. All of a sudden, the creature felt the full weight of something pull him down towards the cliff's edge. The surprise of it caused the creature to first stumble backwards, and then fall over flat on it's stomach. Carefully anchoring itself so it wouldn't get pulled over the edge.
The other two leered at their comrade quizzically.
*Bleep. VWRRRRRRRR-WHAM!*
All of a sudden, the rider-less Hover-cycle turned, and rammed headfirst into the nearest lizardman, one of the standing two. Carrying it off into the jungle, it performed a fantastic spin-out as it slowed to a halt, throwing the hapless passenger off of it's chassis and into the thick trunk of a nearby tree.
"HASSSH!!!"
The remaining, un-occupied lizardman charged off into the jungle after the renegade machine. The third looked on after it, and tried to get back on his feet, only to be yanked down again by the pull of something...
That's when the creature noticed it.
A thin, silver strand. Something was attached to it's arm!
Carefully sitting up, the creature held it's arm up to examine the tiny, hook-like structure embedded in it's armor plating. It's eyes twitched this way and that, as the realization slowly settled in.
Too slowly.
"HMPH!!!"
Footsteps that had been growing louder now ceased altogether, as the stranger made a daring leap from the cliff's outer-face, over the ledge, into the air, and towards the shocked creature.
*POW!*
As both feet hit the ground, the stranger drove a fist down in hammer-swing atop the critter's head, dazing it temporarily. The creature stumbled back, but the man simply yanked back on the cord he'd used to secure his return, pulling the creature back toward him for...
*KA-WHAM!!!*
An uppercut straight to the gut. Now keeling over with it's head unprotected, the attacker drew forward with his other hand, and landed a SECOND uppercut to the lizard's jaw. This final blow sent the creature reeling back, finally to collapse, unconscious.
"... Hmh..."
He re-adjusted his shades, using their built-in computer to track his bike. He couldn't detect the lizards, even the one before him, since their heat signature was too weak. They WERE reptiles, after all... Probably why he didn't detect them in the first place...
He could tell that SOMETHING was attacking his bike, though...
"The fun never stops...", he remarked a bit sarcastically, and charged off into the jungle.
The Earth Temple would have to wait for just a moment...
