The Ice Temple
The ice temple is located no more than sixty kilometers off the coast-line, but due to the intense blizzards that cover the region of Cyra incessantly, it is practically invisible and nearly impossible to find, especially because of its architecture. Despite the constant snow, none of it seems to stick to or around the Ice Temple within a hundred meter radius, but because of this it appears to be in a valley several hundred feet below the sea level, the snow gradually declining until one reaches the temple itself.
This depression itself is not enough to give away the temple itself as there are many variations in the snow in Cyra, but as the blizzard becomes less intense toward the center, the difference becomes quite visible. Standing fifty high, the Ice Temple’s exterior is made primarily from stone, ice having long since frozen between cracks and with several inches of snow adorning any sort of flat surface. Columns that reach up to the full height of the temple stretch outwards, flanking the walkway on either side; a flight of stairs sits nestled between these two rows of columns, steadily climbing toward the peak of the temple where the front entrance is. These columns are connected to a sloped roof that leads back to the center structure as well, splitting on either side to join the front-most wall.
On the outside the temple appears relatively square, thick white stone making pristinely flat walls all the way up the top. As one enters the inside, however, the cold is nearly double from that of the outside. The interior is lit by extraordinarily cold blue fire put in torches that adorn every wall but never seem to exhaust their fuel. Once inside the temple, all sense of direction is quickly lost. The Ice Temple is a maze of long narrow passageways, all leading away from the exit in one way or another. In truth, the Ice Temple extends for nearly a kilometer down into the earth, an innumerable amount of hallways leading to hundreds of rooms, some filled with treasure, and some filled with death.
The deeper one goes, the colder it gets, and the center of the planet seems even further away with each frozen step. In the lower levels of the temple, the enemies one might encounter shift from elemental beings toward more humanoid type creatures. These beings scale nearly fifteen feet as average, and their skin is as resilient and shimmering as steel, their brawny figures capable of ripping any man in half. Legends say that these creatures were once sentient and civil, but tens of thousands of years have rendered them merely lethal defenders. Due to this legend, some believe that a much larger creature once ruled these beings, and still does in a fashion. Ancient myths state that this creature was the defender of the temple's secrets long ago, but no such evidence to back this up has ever been found by modern researchers.
