"And so said Korinus," Blazen panted as he rested by a tree. He leaned on it with a single extended arm. They were after him once again. The shadows crept near.
"I bring you the fire that shall scorch the land, that shall burn your world, but shall also..." Blazen gasped for air, sweat pouring down his brow, "BRING YOU THE LIGHT TO CHASE AWAY THE DARKNESS!" Out from Blazen's left hand came a blue flame, held high above his head as he continued to ward off the shadows, "LET THOSE WHO'S SPIRIT BURN WITH THE SAME INTENSITY OF MY FLAME BE PROTECTED BY HER HEAT! LET THE DARKNESS RUN FROM YOUR FIRE WHOSE TONGUE SHALL SEAR THEIR SKIN! FORCE IT TO BOW TO ITS KNEES AND BACK TO THE ABYSS FROM WHICH IT IS WROUGHT! SO GET THE FUCK BACK!" The shadow creatures finally fled from Blazen's flame back to the safety of their darkness. Under the shadows of the canopy that shadowed Blazen's and their's every movements. Thing is, shadows don't make noise. Blazen fell back against the tree, gasping. He was tired, so tired. The creatures caught up on him much sooner than he hoped and it was still hours until sunlight. He hadn't the energy to ward them off again.
"Bastards." Blazen coughed a bit and stood. His breath had returned to him mostly, enough to move on.
Blazen wondered dimly again why he was here. To try and find something about his mother. He was on his way to Razortooth to try and look for her again. He would talk so some former clients and see what they knew. Nothing, as always. At least they never turned poor Blazen in. They were good enough people, always inviting him for some food and drink, they often talked well of Mary. Not just about her...skills, but her personality. They talked about how much she sometimes spoke of Blazen. Things had changed they said. Razortooth simply wasn't the same without their town bike. Well one thing didn't change at least...at least there he was still called Josh. A name he had nearly forgotten and had it not been for the feeble cross around his neck, he probably would have. Leaves rustled.
Blazen looked up quickly to see a small wyrm spring off to another tree in hopes of a midnight snack. Blazen sighed in relief. Just a wyrm...only a wyrm. Blazen checked the darkness again however. He could feel them...the shadow creatures. They watched him in the distance of their shadows. Blazen often thought he could see one of their white gleaming eyes. However, just as he thought he did, it was gone. Blazen unconsciously gripped his cross and gripped tight. Bastards. The chirps of the wyrm sang through the air, the only thing Blazen could hear aside from his labored breathing. Perhaps...perhaps it was time for a rest. Blazen felt himself slide down, perhaps against another tree. He could feel the eyes still, but a part of him simply said it was his imagination. He had scared the creatures off. He could sleep...he could...Blazen's world turned dark. His breathing slowed and his body relaxed. In his dreams, Blazen could still hear the wyrms small chirps.
Chirp...chirp...chirp...

Scept's feet broke brush and cracked leaves as he dashed through the forest, the slightly overgrown path zig-zagging toward where he was going. The sun was just beginning its descent, and the shadows across the ground lengthened themselves with every step he took, but still he marched himself toward what he was looking for. It couldn't have been less than twenty minutes ago that flame had erupted from someplace in the forest floor. Immediately he had dropped from his tree perch and moved in the direction, but only now did he find himself closing in on it.
As he moved on at his quick pace, though, the trees began to thicken, and he slowed his step. Tall trees began stretching in front of his position, the sun rays hitting his face and then disappearing as he moved past tree after tree. Suddenly, he became eerily aware that the sun had not resurfaced into his vision. A chill crept up his spine as the shadows lengthened and the area darkened. Oh how he hated the dark.
Fear began teasing with his body, but he did his best to banish it from his system, calling upon the magic within him to his fists. Lightning crackled at the ends of his grasp and he felt the static fill his system to the brim. Creeping forward, he silenced himself as best he could, looking for the enemy he knew had to be so close.
A terrifying roar split the dusk, coming from behind the boy. In desperation, he swung toward the sound, lightning flying at the first thing he saw moving. His attack struck, glancing the shadowy creature in the side and creating a gaping hole in the darkness of the fiend. The other half of his attack, however, shot off into the night; it would appear a lightning bolt ascending into the sky to anyone from a distance.
Now he knew the source of the fire: someone else had found these things too. Mustering as much magic as he could control, Scept released a bolt of lighting from the heavens, crashing down on the next vile creature that shot toward him. The thunder from his attack ripped through the silence for miles, and he hoped that the other person would come to his aid. Could he even trust this stranger though? Perhaps he was working with these creatures.
More and more began to appear, and gradually they began to gain ground on the boy. A moment later, another one flew from the shadows and latched onto his back, throwing him to the ground. He felt the darkness closing in on him, and his lightning flickered. Could this be it?

The sound of a tree falling is what woke up Blazen. The smell of burnt wood and the electricity in the air suddenly made him aware. The sound of thunder cracked through the dusk sky. The bolts of lightning cut through the air, splitting the sky for a brief moment. Blazen stood up groggily. He wondered if maybe a storm was about. He would need cover, he would need...lightening usually doesn't come from the ground does it? Perhaps this wasn't a storm after all. He looked up to the sky. Not a cloud, only the orange and crimson sky. Then what was the the source of the lightening? A mage like himself? Blazen's face turned sour for a moment, he didn't like calling himself a mage and to do so on accident wasn't encouraging. Blazen remembered the matter at hand and so off he went.
Blazen could hear more and more booms of thunder as he navigated swiftly through the forest floor. Over the roots and foliage he he jumped and under the branches and vines he ducked. He could remember moving only a few times, his feet only hitting the ground once or twice before he finally came to the conflict. Blazen could see a mass of darkness before him. Like a pile of shadow over one mass. This poor soul was being consumed by their form, Blazen needed to assist, and so he did. Blazen held his hands back, one over the other making a small baseball sized blue fireball. Blazen threw the fire at the creatures, forcing it to expand as it traveled. When it hit, it was about the size of a basketball. The creatures stopped their hungrily shifting and turned to Blazen.
"Piss off, or else you want to deal with me again!" Blazen ordered with another fireball to mean what he said. The creatures expanded, off the boy, but did not leave. Instead they decided to split their attention. A group rushed to Blazen, in the form of several beasts. They roared as they closed in. Blazen grinned, that short nap did him well.
The first creature, in the shape of a large cat swung its shadow paw at Blazen's torso. Blazen dodged back and blasted it with a spit of fire from his palms. The creature became a flaming shadow, red flames licking air around it. The creature yowled in pain and ran off. The second came as a giant ape, swinging a massive arm. Blazen felt the impact of the creature to his stomach and was pushed into a tree. It was like getting kicked by a mule. The air was sucked from his lungs, and for a moment Blazen could not expand them. It came again, this time intending to smash Blazen's head in with a thrust of its shadowy arm. Blazen barely ducked under the arm. He placed his hand on what would be the ape's chest. The section became red for a moment before a stream of fire exited the creature's backside. It fell in flames.
"Ok..." Blazen stood, holding his stomach with one hand and a flame in the other, "Who's next?"

Scept began to feel the life draining from his entirety as the shadow latched onto his form. While unsure if he even had one, the boy felt like his very soul was threatening to be ripped from him in a sickly wave of tiredness. His eyelids became leaden and his muscles relaxed, succumbing to what he vaguely acknowledged in his mind would be the end. That was, until fire permeated his world once more.
In a moment, his energy returned, the creature flying off his back in a smoky wreck. Crawling to his knees, Scept's mind slowly returned to reality as he watched another teenager strike with great fury upon the creatures that had been assailing him. So it was a friendly being. Or helpful, for that matter. Mustering his magic once more, Scept rose to his feet completely and released a shell of magic from his core.
The time bubble filled the surrounding area in moments, and Scept allowed all but himself and the fire-boy to be susceptible to his time magic, slowing everything else down in the field. His ability was not strong enough so as to make his enemies become harmless, but it certainly bolstered his ability to react and strike back. Lightning flowed freely once more, slicing down a shadowy figure that threatened to spring up behind his newfound ally.
Sweat dripping from his forehead from the abundance of heat, he muttered half to himself, half to the other, "What on earth are those things..?"

Lightening flashed past Blazen, the slowed beat was slain swiftly by the younger boy's strike. Blazen figured this boy was more of a magician and Blazen himself was. He knew his fire, but that was the extent of his abilities. Blazen taking out the two around him rather easy. Their slowed movement allowed Blazen to quickly flank and blast one into a tree, leaving it as a burning corpse. The second was met to a kick in its maw then another into its dark hide. The creature howled in slow motion, slow enough for Blazen to place a hand on the creature's open mouth and blast even more fire through its gullet and out the ass end. Blazen really didn't like these creatures, but intended to make them pay for bothering him. Blazen stood next to the boy then, grinning now. The creatures, though few now, still remained around the two.
"Nothing but a bunch of bumps in the night." Blazen said, grinning his grin still. Blazen crossed his arms, two blue flames forming inside his fists and consuming his hands. Blazen then held his hands at his sides, the blue flames dancing harmlessly over his flesh, tentatively licking the pants of his legs.
"They're power relies on the darkness, take that away from them and they are no more. Sharp claws and teeth, but far to weak to use them properly, like a bunch of kittens. They are Shadow Creatures, nothing more." Blazen continued to explain as he thrust his flaming fists forward, burning two more creatures with the heat he produced. However they did not combust, Blazen burned and hurt them, but he was getting tired. Blue fire was hard to keep alight, especially long enough to burn something to ash. Perhaps it would be better to scare them off again...unless this boy here could down them now.

Scept's face turned sour at the comment of enclosing darkness, the thought terrifying him more than he was willing to admit. "I hate the dark," he muttered, grimacing as he peered around the borders of his newly created time zone. Already in the distance could he see the shadows creeping in. If he hadn't been looking for it, it likely would've appeared nothing more than the setting sun playing tricks with his eyes, but now he knew better. Now he knew what he was looking for. "I may have power, but I'm afraid I do not have your resilience, conflagrator. The darkness eats my energy like a stony wall eats electricity. Before I saw your fire, I was headed to a shelter not far off from here for the night; a friend there is expecting me. If it interests you, I would appreciate your company. I'm not sure I'll live through this night on me own."
He shot and anxious glance at Blazen, his hands gripped tightly in anticipation of another attack, and by the fire that had ignited itself in the other's hands, he assumed he was not alone. The sun was rapidly descending, and with each passing minute he felt the darkness seep into his skin more and more heavily. By the time sunset was complete and dusk was long past, he doubted his nerves would make any alliance for the use of his magics. After a moment's thought, though, an idea for protection struck him.
Wrapping his energy throughout the heavens once more, he increased the static charges in the clouds, the already blackened masses darkening in their color as they prepared to hurl the boy's lightning back at him. Keeping his flows of magic loose, Scept prepared himself for the imminent strike, and a moment later it came. As the lightning bolt struck the boy with electricity strong enough to kill ten men over again, he released his restraints and let the power flow freely though him. Two seconds of ecstasy, and then it was gone.
The power coursed out of his body immediately, and a ring of energy was channeled around the two of them, extending to the borders of his time field. Tying off the streams of magic, he allowed it to sustain itself in a powerful boundary ward. Nodding to himself with satisfaction, the boy relaxed again and turned his attention back on Blazen.

"Then if its an escort service you need," Blazen answered, fire raging in his palms once more, "I'd be happy to oblige. Besides, I'd like to get to sleep sometime, I am kinda tired..." Blazen's grin did not waver, "but not tired enough to weaken my care of these creatures." Blazen chuckled as lightning once again struck around him, the clouds of storms had gathered above him and struck down on the boy next to him. Time again slowed, but further out. It would be easier, greatly so. Now they could really do some damage to the creatures, and Blazen was ready to deliver. The second wave was coming, but slowed in the aura of the boy's magic. It was impressive how much magic this boy possessed. He certainly was not what he seemed.
"Ok...time to burn a path!" Blazen announced, "point me in the right direction and I'll carve our way there. Just keep this barrier up and I'll do the rest, kid." Blazen assured as he gathered another orb of blue fire between his two palms. The orb grew in size and heat as Blazen concentrated on his flames. Already Blazen could feel his strength draining, he was much more tired than he let on and sleep was something he was fighting for now.
"Ready, set, go!" Blazen then yelled as he thrusted his arms forward in a random direction. Blazen had yet to hear which direction the place was, but the less to follow the better the travel. The fire that sprang from his palms was not a beam, nor was it just a blast of fire. it was something in between, like a geyser exploding, but instead of water, blue fire raged into the trees and creatures. They burned...like moths to a flame.
Blazen wondered dimly...how long until he burned out?

OOC: Tardy yet again. Sorryz. Scept watched the peculiar boy grin in the firelight despite the encroaching shadows, and still yet another shiver passed through his body. The time field and the lightning ward would hold for now, but Scept was quickly beginning to feel the over-exertion he was putting himself under. His flashing lights and high speeds could only be held for so long, and he was still quite an amateur at it all.
As Blazen began to cut a fiery swathe through the trees, Scept adjusted his direction slightly and allowed himself to follow the pyromancer through the rapidly burning path. Pleasantly surprised, he soon discovered that this fire was not going to kill him. He still did not dare touch it directly, but the smoke and fumes of which it produced did not seem suffocating, and the heat almost seemed pleasant from his position behind Blazen. With the thin line rapidly being destroyed in one direction, the duo could move quickly through the forest.
"It isn't far, now," he said after a short while, his voice on edge from wariness. One or two shadows had been destroyed by the lightning ward already, but the magic was weakening and Scept highly doubted that the creatures would simply give up and stalk off into the night. No, peace would likely only come once they arrived at their rest stop. The mage there was always warded, and Scept wondered if even they could pass through the barriers that were likely in the way.

Blazen cut through the forest with ease on his own, burning and scaring off the shadow creatures. However they continued to return, and in greater numbers. It seemed with every one dealt with two more would take their place. Blazen did not let up however, constantly he threw out large blasts of fire to clear the path and move forward swiftly. He did not waste time, he was starting to grow tired, and he couldn't keep himself going much longer. Blazen could also tell the kid behind him was getting taxed on his weight of the fight as well. The creatures could outlast them easily. It was only a matter of time now. Blazen had an idea though.
"Listen, kid," Blazen said, he didn't know the kid's name, and he meant not offense by it, but he needed the little magician's attention, "I can't keep this up much longer..." Blazen took a deep breath, "I've been keeping these guys at bay with the fire all around us and I can't keep it burning much longer, it feeds off my power, not so much the forest...so once I go out so do they. You said its not far now? Well I got an idea. I'm gonna gather what I got and then we're gonna run. I want you to focus your shield on our back, I'll keep the front covered." Blazen put his hands together in front of his chest then. Fire began to seep through the cracks between his hands, the creatures were getting closer. Blazen then slowly opened his hands, in his hands was a large orb of blue fire, and in it his reserves. He could already feel himself losing touch with the world, "I'm gonna keep this one fire going, and you're gonna follow...in three...two...one...NOW!" Blazen then sent his hands forward and ran. Out of his hands was a large blast of fire that continued to stream out of his hands as he ran. The forest around them darkened in ash. The trees turned black with scars and the ground dark of ash. Blazen kept this fires going, keeping the path before them clear.
"If you're friend has a barrier I should be able to feel its resistance when we hit it." Blazen then yelled over the roar of his flames. At least that's what Blazen hoped. If there was such a shelter out in the middle of this forest then it would have some sort of defense. Blazen continued forward, the fires behind them dying before the kid could even pass them and feel their pleasant heat. Only the fire before them burned with life...a life that was weakening quickly. It wasn't long however until Blazen felt himself slowing down, something was pushing back now...

Scept grunted in response to Blazen's 'suggestion' and picked up his own pace as the pyromancer broke into a dead run. The fire lit up the early night, and Scept couldn't help but be marveled by the incredible power that the man had. Doing his best to muster up energy in return, Scept gathered within himself the last remnants of his power to shield the rear. Sure enough, as the fire thickened, so did the enemies.
They began colliding in droves, and Scept's shield faltered and stuttered as fear began to grip him. The wave of shadow came crashing down upon the barrier time and time again, and it was all Scept could do to merely keep a grasp on his fields. Slowly, though, he realized that it would not be enough to keep the hordes at bay. Grappling with electricity, the Mage released a pulsating salvo of energy, moving in and out of its border as it violently shredded enemy after enemy. His power was failing as was his stamina, but a hint of something familiar was in the air now.
It was almost comforting to feel his steps deliberately slower from his friend's magic, but at the same time yet more anxiety gripped him. Would it be possible that his friend was away and had simply left the ward up barring the escape? If that were the case, there was little to be done. Steps were making almost no ground now at all. The energy to move feet was now only returning inches of progress and soon less than that.
His mind raced for a possible solution. They hadn't made it through yet, and he wasn't sure if they could wait long enough for him to get around to realizing the situation. His mind fumbled for a password, for he knew that there had to be one. Words began sputtering out of his mouth, one after another. Some were in the common tongue and others in past languages he had learned. Finally in desperation, he called out the names of the legendary Primals, the thought sparked by the latest revolts in the southern kingdoms. "Korinus!" he bellowed, desperation filling his voice.
The effects were immediate. The shield faded, and Scept slid through easily. Moments later the creatures of darkness shattered themselves against the barricade, pounding helplessly at nothing as their vigor of the hunt faded, separated by an infinite amount of space.

Suddenly Blazen felt no resistance and the sudden give sent Blazen off balance for a moment. He was relieved though, the boy's shout must've lowered the shield momentarily. However his fire still raged from his hands. Problem. Blazen gave up on regaining his balance and stead fell within the boundaries of the shield, turning his body as he fell. His hands then pointed out at the beats and his fire continued to pour out, burning them through the shield as it returned. The fire continued however, but then weaken, and finally puttering to a stop. Blazen didn't bother getting up.
"Damn...that was close." Blazen said, catching his breath. He rolled onto his back, laying one hand on his chest. He felt his chest rise and fall rapidly from his panting. Sweat rolled down his brow from the sheer energy he spent keeping up his fire. They were lucky, he reckoned, but he still had to thank the kid. If it weren't for him they'd be stuck outside of the barrier and there would be not shield to slow the creatures down.
Blazen watched frowzily as the shadows threw themselves again and again at the barrier. They wanted in, they wanted their prey. They growled, roared, and hit the barrier as much as they could will and still the barrier did not give. Blazen watched with sinister satisfaction as some limped away, hurt by their own stupidity and pride. Over time, more and more left the barrier to try their luck else where. Eventually they were all gone, or at least out of sight.
"We did it." Blazen then breathed and began to laugh. He was happily, crazily happy. They escaped death, and they did it well. Aside from a bruise and a shortness of breath, the two were fine from what he knew. Blazen looked up at the sky. The stars looked particularly beautiful tonight.

Vincent had been asking himself the same question over and over again since he got lost in these woods: 'why the devil am I here?' He had stumbled into the woods accidentally, and now he was without direction. The sun was setting, but from where he could not tell. His black and white outfit faded into the shadows of night, and his silver hair that hung near the bottom of his back shimmered lightly in what little light remained. He sighed. Mr. Roth didn't much care for traveling in the night, more so when he was in a forest. Vince had heard far too many tales of people wandering into the woods at night and never returning, so he needed to get to a village or something soon. He rested his right hand on the silver hilt of his sword and continued along his way.
Lightning crashed in the distance, and his attention was directed toward the noise. He moved the way of the sound, and then roaring flames and the sounds of battle joined with the crashes and booms of lightning. ~Just what's going on out here?~ The swordsman asked himself, and then ran off to find whatever was making all the ruckus. He was too late it seemed; much had been turned to ash and signs of a fierce fight were all that remained. He eyes turned and caught sight of a light. "A bit bright to be the sun at this hour. Be this magic?" He thought aloud and followed quickly after the light only to find a horde of Shadow Creatures. He was startled, but only for a moment. He jumped high into the trees to remain out of sight and continued to follow. He saw two young men were the makers of the light and they were being chased by the monsters. He drew his blade from its sheath and it shined with a pale blue and white light as he dove down as sliced through two of the Shadow Creatures before jumping back into the trees and following. He sheathed the sword and watched as the pair suddenly slowed and then seemed to burst through something Vincent couldn't see. ~A magical barrier, perhaps?~ He asked himself mentally. The creatures tried to get through for a while, but eventually left. He breathed a quiet sigh of relief, thankful that they hadn't noticed him. Now that they were gone he jumped down into the open and looked off in the direction they had gone before turning toward the two young men. "Oi! You two okay?"

(( Sorry, finals... )) Scept rounded on the man instantly, electricity jumping into his palms at the voice he had not expected, "How did you get in here...?" The man was definitely not what he had expected, and the voice was like having someone sneak up behind you while you were waiting in quiet. It was a shock to his system as assuredly as if he had shocked someone with his lightning. In the fading light he could not make out all the features of the man before him, and that made him even more uncertain about going forward. His question had been for their well being though, but perhaps he waited to attack of they were weak? Perhaps.
He eased the lightning in his fists down, not wanting to burn himself out completely before he had even begun to need it. Just a spark or two would do for intimidation factors if necessary, the look of being ready to take on enemies. He shook his at himself, irritated that his paranoia had been so amplified by the recent attack, but he awaited the man's response, or for newfound ally to add something.

Blazen sat up dumbly. He looked on at the guy calling to the two. Blazen rubbed an eye, he kinda wanted to sleep, but he supposed that would have to wait. Wait until he was actually in a bed at least. Blazen gave off a small yawn, while putting a hand over his mouth. He looked over the new guy again. Seemed like he could hold his own, some kind of warrior at least. Blazen crossed his legs as he sat and leaned on them with his elbows. He shook his head, trying to wake up. The guy seemed alright, not really a threat, but perhaps not a friend. Perhaps. Blazen hardly cared at the moment.
"Probably the same way we did." Blazen then responded to the kid's surprised reaction, "We did swung that door awful wide despite how long it was open." Blazen then let his head cradle in his left hand as he then turned his attention back to the man.
"Yeah, we're fine I think. Tired as all hell, but ok. Nothing a night's sleep won't help." Blazen yawned, "Not exaggerating on the tiredness either." The sun was nearly gone by now anyway. The night may be young, but the day was long.

The first of the two young men to speak seemed a little nervous, and certainly defensive. His reaction was understandable considering the situation he had just been in, and their present location. "How did you get in here...?" The teen asked. ~What...?~ The young swordsman thought as he looked at Sceptus with a raised eyebrow. The silver-haired teenager glanced around quickly, and came to the conclusion that he had somehow gotten through the barrier. Was this a technique he had collected long ago? Or maybe he had unknowingly copied Scept when he landed? Whatever the case he was inside the barrier.
"That's a good question. However, I've no answer for you." He replied after a short moment. "Anyhow, there's no need to get your panties in a bunch; I'm not here to kill you or anything." The Collector said lightheartedly. "Actually, I was just coming to see what all the noise was about." He said with a little grin.
The light made by the lightning that faded into sparks in Sceptus' hand made it possible for Vincent to see some of his features. He was a white male, very white. ~Dang. He's paler than I am.~ He thought to himself. It seemed his hair was also lightening early, much like Vincent's, only Scept's was short and white. He had a scar on his face, possibly from battle, and he was noticeably shorter than Vince. ~I'd guess around sixteen-years-old, five foot nine, and a mage of sorts. He probably specializes in elements, specifically lightning.~ He thought as he examined the young man.
The second man spoke, sounding rather tired. This one was much more relaxed, not as antsy as the previous teenager. He was also bigger, closer to Vincent's height. He had fiery red hair, and white skin, but not nearly as pale as his comrade. They seemed like decent guys so far, so that was good.
"Well, I'm glad you aren't wounded." He said kindly. "So, you mind if I ask what you two are doing in the woods at this hour?"
