Aube
In the Oceania Territories, near the southern continent of Valtheran, a great many nations exist across the islands of the sea, each of them making a living on the bounties that the sea surrounding them provides. Of these islandic nations, the largest and most prosperous of them is the microcontinent kingdom of Aube, which has laid claim to the largest of islands on the Oceania Territories. The island of Aube is an impressive one million, nine hundred and nineteen thousands, four hundred and forty square kilometers, stretched out in a rough quarter-circle near the continent of Valtheran. Because of its vast size, the island of Aube is able to offer a much different climate and environment than the tropical islands found elsewhere in the Territories and the Great Sea. Except along its coast, Aube generally has various fields and forests spread out across it, and is also home to a pair of a trio of mountains, one on each end and a smaller, third one closer to its middle—the history of Aube records how the island was once two, with the third being pulled out of the waters over the millennia, joining the two islands into a microcontinent. Aube has a moderate population spread out through the countryside and various coastal cities—the forests and mountains are poor for development due to their climate, the steep elevations, and the risk of landslides caused by soft ground and heavy rainfall. Due to its size and the environment, Aube experiences a vast array of different seasonal phenomena throughout the island, including cold winters and humid summers around the outer coasts, snowy winters around the mountains and mild weather around the foothills, and large temperature differences between winter, summer, night, and day in the central plains.
The kingdom shares close ties with the kingdoms of Valtheran, ties which were only strengthened in the recent years of the Holy Empire of Stamaria’s new foreign policies and the unification of Valtheran. The kingdom operates under a kind of constitutional monarchy, where the King or Queen in power operates alongside the elected parliament, through the use of a checks and balances system. While the monarch can utilize a vast amount of political power, they are kept from growing too powerful by the parliament. These practices, combined with the difficulties that can become apparent through democracy, have recently earned Aube the scorn of the current Stamarian government, which has alerted the kingdom to a possible invasion sometime in the future. The royal family of Aube resides in the Lythidonea Palace, which rests in the inner foothills of the central mountain on the microcontinent. The Lythidonea Palace is made up of several walls and spires surrounding the central fortress, all of it made in soft sandstone and coral colors, giving it an impressive, regal display as it looks out over the plains and the coastline, towards Valtheran. The roads leading from the Palace lead down to a port reserved for the use of the royal family and their guests. The roads also split off to head into the mainland of Aube, towards the cities and countryside for local access.
The kingdom’s wealth is generated by the various off-shore investments they have made, including the nearby oil shoals and very bountiful fishing. As such, the kingdom has had to protect itself from numerous raids by pirates, and as such have developed one of the most decorated and skilled navies in all of the world of Ymaggion, rivaling even that of the Holy Empire of Stamaria. With these fleets, who are famous for their high accuracy in naval combat, and their political, social, and military ties to the nearby continent, Aube has earned itself the moniker, “the Shield of Valtheran”. Together, the nations of the two combined territories are a force to be reckoned with. The high population of humans, elves, and komola within the kingdom has also granted Aube a high concentration of mages, and some believe it is only a matter of time before Aube and Valtheran have assembled a magical force capable of rivaling Minervum’s Taron Magi.
