It was a struggle to keep her attention on him, surprisingly. More than anything, she wanted to close her eyes and enjoy the moment with him, but she didn't want him to feel pain any longer than need be. She put herself in a disciplined state and kissed him back gently, but made sure to focus on the magic that channeled between them. Still, when it ended, she was sad. She hadn't wanted it to be over so soon.
Though she knew that this could not last forever, Zandara was becoming rather fond of Ventrix. Now that he was in his right mind, he was gentle, and kind. She beamed at him when he thanked her afterwards, and spoke in reply, "It was my pleasure, Ventrix." She spoke his name softly, relishing the sound of it on her lips. She touched his face gently with her hand, running her fingers over his skin and hair, "I'm so sorry that it must end with our parting. Had I the ability to do so I would never take my magic away from you."
She smiled softly at him, "I will find a way to help you, friend. I swear it." Slowly she kissed him again, her eyes still locked on his face, but this time taking care to enjoy it, her hand sweeping over the back of his head and holding his neck right at the jawline for a moment before leaning back and looking at him. "I fear that my magic will soon begin to wear on my stamina. May I offer you a meal, or anything else at all, before we part? You should enjoy this moment as much as you can."

When she came back for a second round, Ventrix was more than willing to comply. He wanted more, and he didn't want it to end any less than she, if not more. Zandara was the best thing to ever happen to him, and something in his heart told him as long as she was around. Things would be alright. As long as she breathed he could be sane again one day. He truly believed that. But that is what made his next decision so difficult to make. She was growing tired, he could tell, and she'd have to move on soon. As much as he wanted to spend more time with her, he couldn't help but feel it was time to let her go. Ventrix would not make her a prisoner of his curse.
"No..." Ventrix then said, tears welding up on the edges of his eyes, "No I shouldn't drain you anymore. I want you to go, save your strength you'll need it...to escape from me." Ventrix looked down at the ground then stood. He took hold of Mind Cleaver and swung it hard into the ground. The weapon stuck well, he gave it some tugs and it would not move. Satisfied it wouldn't go anywhere, Ventrix turned again.
Ventrix looked at her with no sadness, not this time. His eyes were dry and his head high. He went to Zandara and bent down. This time he put his arms around her and held her tightly, but not too tightly. He was sure to mind his own strength.
"Zandara, you've done so much for me...and I thank you so much, but you've done all you can for now. I do hope we meet again." Ventrix said as he hugged her, resting a hand on her head.

Zandara's eyes kept locked on the man with intense magic. He was right, her strength was growing smaller, and she couldn't hold on too much longer. At least not with the intensity required to hold his mind quiet. She watched him thrust his sword into the ground and test the hold. She grimaced, her smile fading out completely as she watched him ensure her safety. Her eyes flickered over his body, resting on his arms as they opened to wrap around her. She kept her eyes on his shoulder and neck. As their bodies parted, she looked up at him, a single tear falling down her cheek.
She reached up with one hand, brushing her fingers over his face, "We will, Ventrix." Her voice broke as a shuddering breath left her lungs, "I promise you." She leaned up on her toes and kissed him once more, enjoying the feeling, locking it into her brain. She let her hands fall down to his and held them tightly, pulling back slowly, backing away to Whisper. Eyes still on the man nearby, she mounted and turned toward him. This was where it would end. This was where she would leave him to his curse.
She reached down from atop her mare and touched his face again, slowly and gently letting the magic fade. Carefully she pulled the spell back, gently removing her only means of making him whole. She felt the connection ebb away, until finally there was only a hint of it left, and then she did the hardest thing she had ever done.
Dropping her hand slowly, she whispered, "I love you..." With that, she let her gaze fall turn forward to the trail in the trees. Spurring her horse forward with a hard kick to the sides, she galloped into the forest, tears flowing freely now. She listened behind her for the sound of a vicious follower, the man who was going to try to kill her.
The man she had just fallen in love with.

"And I love you to." He said as she began to depart. Ventrix watched her slip away, his mind holding dearly on to her touch, her kiss, and her words. Slowly, oh so slowly, did she slip away. But as did she, so did he. Those small whispers that gave him nothing but encouragement and happiness were slowly getting louder and rowdier. The thoughts of the world leaked into his head flooding his thoughts with random gibberish and chatter. He couldn't catch them, wouldn't catch them. There was too much, too fast, his headache came. It grew and grew as his mind opened up more and more like a whirlpool. It all was sucked into the depths of his mind. He held it, trying to keep calm. He tried to ignore the thoughts, he tried to think of her. Her touch, her kiss, smile, her eyes, her face, her words. It was being lost, however, in the tornado of voices that weighed down on his mind. He felt his mind being sandwiched between all of the voices. He forgot her words, her touch, her kiss, her love. It was all gone...and that feeling of murder came again...
Ventrix turned his head and saw someone running off on a horse. A woman he gathered and he could hear her thoughts. He didn't want to any longer. He would silence her in just a moment and watch her head roll as her voice fell quiet. The horse to, that could think as well. Ventrix reached for mindcleaver and pulled. It was stuck. With his face now red in rage Ventrix took tighter hold of the sword with his one hand and pulled again. Earth and vegetation erupted from the ground along with the large blade. It was his insanity that fueled his strength, he was much stronger while his body breathed to kill.
"FUCKING BITCH!" Ventrix roared through the forest as his feet then moved. Ventrix hopped over roots and shot between trunks. He could not keep up with a horse, but he would try. He would try and kill this woman who dared think in his presence. With Mind Cleaver firmly in hand, Ventrix chased after the woman.

It was quiet for a short while, Dara's tears flowing silently down her face. It was when the scream erupted from the throat of Ventrix behind her that she began to sob, heeling Whisper in the ribs even harder, urging her to gallop even faster through the trees. She leaned over the mare's neck and held on tight, her sobs shaking her shoulders hard as hoof beats and footsteps pounded in her ears. The footsteps were getting softer and softer, and she could feel the presence of the crazed man slowing. How she longed to reach out and touch his face, send her magic coursing through him once more to ease his pain and calm his mind.
But for now, she had to run from him, to save her life and her horse's. Clinging to mane and neck, Zandara cried as she ran. She wondered for a moment what would happen if she slowed down, turned around and tried again to hold him in her arms, but she knew that there was little she could do with how little energy she had. With a breaking heart and a steady run, Zandara sprinted through the trees on the back of her white mare and away from the best thing that had ever happened to her.
"I'm sorry, Ventrix. I'll make it right someday. I promise."

Ventrix pursued with murder in his eyes still. She was getting away though, and he couldn't have that, no at all. Ventrix picked up his peed slightly, his crazed will driving his want, no, his need to murder this girl. He wanted to silence her, to kill her, and to ease his pain just that much more. He hopped over roots, dodged around branches, and trampled over sprouts. Mind Cleaver dragged behind him, cutting through trunks, branches, and leaves. It left a painfully straight line behind the crazed man. Dirt and vegetation kicked up behind Ventrix as he chased.
Though his chase seemed in vain, the horse had gained more speed than he could muster. Ventrix watched as the white horse began to disappear from his view and began to flicker away into the woods. Ventrix gave out a frustrated roar as his hope to kill this girl diminished. In a last ditch effort, Ventrix readied his sword and swung. He let go of the sword as he swung and off it went, spinning as it cut through branches and trees in an attempt to kill the horse before it got away. However, this effort was also in vain. The sword lost momentum and balance. Before Ventrix knew it, it was stuck up against a particularly strong tree. The horse disappeared and Ventrix was alone once again in the forest. Ventrix gave off one last roar of anger while the girl was in shouting distance.
