Name: Kalia Dragonheart
Alias: n/a
Age: 26
Gender: Female
Nationality: Zailleon
Appearance: Kalia is a fairly tall woman, standing at five feet eleven inches, and weighs a hundred and forty pounds. Thanks to her work, she has a healthy, lightly tanned complexion due to her time in the sun, and her body has an strong, athletic build with small but toughened muscles, which is complimented with an impressive bust and other curves in her waist, hips, and legs. Like her younger brother, she inherited her facial features from her father, and has long brown hair that goes halfway down her back, and is tied into a ponytail with a black ribbon at the back of her neck. Her hair is parted in the middle, and strands of her hair go over the front of her ears, down to the top of her breasts. Also like her brother, she has bright green eyes, which she inherited from her father. Beneath her clothes, her body has several slightly pale scars on her body, earned through vigorous training and combat against different Cher Plek militaries and the Korin.
Kalia is normally attired in her standard knight’s uniform, while on duty or when attending social functions that are sometimes required of her station. A long-sleeved navy blue coat, buttoned in the front and trimmed in white along its hem, is worn over a light shirt. The coat is modified to have a long back skirt attached to it, which wraps around the shorter main skirt, which is also navy blue in color, and is held down with a red leather belt, which also holds a scabbard against her left hip. A gold metal band is snapped down across the chest of the coat, and across the front of the collar. Steel metal gauntlets are fitted over the hands and sleeves, each featuring a gold-plated triangle set above the hands. Black thigh-high stockings, trimmed with red bands near the top, are worn over the legs, and steel boots are worn over them, both with a gold plate of armor fit over the front of them. A white cape completes the ensemble, which is trimmed in black and designed to rest over the shoulders. The collar of this cape is designed to look like that of a large coat, having it turned over. Despite the short skirt, the set up of the uniform makes for a modest and stately appearance.
When in battle, Kalia wears additional kevlar-reinforced armor over her uniform. A relatively unadorned breastplate and shoulder armor is worn over the coat, and tassets are set over the hips, over the back skirt of the coat. Additional plating is worn over the stockings, above the armored boots. An open-faced helmet is worn on her head, which leaves her ponytail hanging free—this rarely causes problems for her, as she will not hesitate to slash off her ponytail if an enemy manages to grab a hold of it.
When off-duty, Kalia wears clothing much less informal than her uniform. A thin, long-sleeved shirt of green and white patterned material, one with a laced front that offers a view of her cleavage, is worn beneath a leather bodice that fits across her stomach, emphasizing her bust. Comfortable blue jeans are worn with it, tied down with a thin leather belt. Soft boots made of a light red leather, designed to be comfortable for travel and running, complete the outfit. When traveling, Kalia often wears the same scabbard from her uniform for her sword.
Personality: Kalia is a confident, friendly, and outgoing woman, being extremely personable and approachable by others. She can be cordial and tact with others, but playful and flirtatious around those she considers her friends, and often teases her two younger siblings, Rua and Mesia. On duty, Kalia is strict and disciplined in her behavior, as is required of a Knight of Stamaria. She is quick to follow orders, asking questions when needed and when its appropriate, and is quick to distribute orders to her subordinates. However, a personality trait she shares with both of her siblings is a strong stubbornness in her ways—it is difficult to change her opinions on certain matters. She knows when to rein her stubbornness in, and on the battlefield, this stubbornness can prove to make her an extremely tenacious foe.
Possessions: Kalia has numerous possessions, both with her and at her home in Zailleon. The title and deed to the house and property were left to the three of them in their parents’ will, and her own room still contains all of her belongings from her childhood.
As a Knight, Kalia owns her uniform and armor, as well as an enchanted sword made for her upon reaching her current rank of Knight Bachelor. The weapon has a slender, three foot long blade with a single edge, similar to the style used in the standard issue blade-rifles used by Stamarian soldiers. It is set into a narrow crossguard of red and black metal with the part facing the direction of the blade’s edge slanting downwards into a sharp point to protect the hand, and the opposite side being much shorter. The center is set with a round circle inlaid with gold, a tiny emblem of the Empire pressed into it. The hilt of the sword is wrapped in red leather, and ends in a sharp, pointed pommel of black steel. The sword is enchanted to cause more grievous wounds against an enemy that suffers from burns or is lit on fire. The scabbard that matches it is inlaid with gold lines over its black surface, and has an ornamental gold chain attached to it and the belt it hangs from.
Also as a Knight of Stamaria, Kalia holds the rights to her mount: a trained war wyvern, a large male she has named Amatlan. Amatlan is the size of a strong horse, like most wyvern, and has a brownish-bronze hide that is streaked with red stripes. Being a wyvern, he has the ability to breathe fire and utilize magic to a small degree, and has been trained to fight in combat, while either Kalia is not around, or when Kalia is astride him. He is well-trained, and will not attack other people or animals unless it is required of him. Generally, Amatlan is rode only by Kalia or, during some cases, her younger sister, Mesia. Amatlan often wears a saddle on his back, and reins fit around his snout. These reins do not restrict his ability to open his mouth in order to bite or breathe fire, as needed for war wyverns used by Stamarian Knights.
Special Abilities: As a Knight of Stamaria, Kalia has had extensive combat training and has become a master swordswoman, as well as an excellent sharpshooter due to her training with a blade rifle while in the lower ranks of the Stamarian military. She has learned how to ride both warhorses and war wyverns in battle, and how to care for both, though she prefers the use of war wyverns. Kalia was found to have magic potential, and has trained in the use of magic, though she is nowhere near the level of a Taron Mage. The amount of spells she has mastered are limited to non-elemental offensive spells, and some minor healing and protection spells for use in battle, and knows very little in the way of utility-use magic spells. Other than these, Kalia has had extensive training in the wilderness, both due to the remote region her family lives in, and from her training upon entering the Stamarian military. She has also learned how to look after and repair both her sword and her armor.
History: Kalia Dragonheart was born in the year 78 S.R., to a recently married couple, Russell and Via Dragonheart. She was the first of three eventual children, and when her brother Rua was born four years later, she ended up growing up to be a bit of a tomboy, enjoying many activities typically enjoyed by boys. Upon reaching the age of nine, Kalia was soon given a sister, Mesia. Unlike most children, Kalia took right away to her siblings as they entered her life, causing them both to grow close to her and to each other. Despite this, all three children grew up with their own stubborn natures, and much to the dismay of their parents, arguments were numerous and resentment could last for days on end. Luckily, despite the arguments, the children remained close with one another.
Influenced by novels and stories of adventure, Kalia took an interest in swordsmanship, and found a way to be tutored. Soon, she was apprenticed to become a knight, and was learning how to tend to a horse, attend social functions, and care for weaponry and armor. Coincidentally, these extra duties, combined with the influence of her sister, helped create a balance between the girl in her, and the tomboy in her—a fact that did not escape her younger sister, who was quick to take advantage of Kalia’s newfound “girliness”. The discipline she acquired during her apprenticeship helped improve her academic life, and soon began to excel in school, where she used to struggle. However, because of all this, the time she could call her own began to dwindle. When she wasn’t going to school or furthering her apprenticeship, Kalia often took her two younger siblings on little adventures in the desert area around their home in Midwest Zailleon, or into the local towns to hang out with her friends from school.
Upon reaching the age of seventeen, Kalia’s life was irrevocably turned upside down.
One evening during the autumn of 95 S.R., the Dragonheart family had taken a trip to the town housing the children’s schools, meaning to attend a play that Mesia had been cast in. The family of five first stopped by a restaurant for a nice dinner before they set off to the school that the two younger children were enrolled in. However, that night, a tragedy unfolded as the town came under attack by strange creatures of unknown origin—creatures that indiscriminately attacked the townsfolk present in the streets. Many people were killed in the sudden assault, but Stamarian militia quickly mobilized and retaliated against the monsters while calling for backup from the nearest Stamarian military facility. Their mobilization, however, came too late for the Dragonheart family, and the children watched as a gigantic, canine-like beast with four arms slaughtered their parents in the streets—a memory that seared itself into the minds of each Dragonheart child. While the creatures were driven off by the reinforcements, the beast that killed Russell and Via Dragonheart was not among the creatures that were slain. Due to the rising prevalence of terrorist attacks that had culminated with the founding of the Korin the previous year, Stamarian officials speculated that the attack may have been a new kind of terrorist attack in retaliation for the Holy Empire of Stamaria’s recent military victories. It was, however, unusual to see such attacks that deep into the Stamarian homeland, and as the investigation went on, no connection to the terrorist organization could be found.
For the surviving Dragonheart children, it meant that their lives had drastically changed. Until such time that they were fit to live on their own, the three were taken in by their relatives, who did their best to help them cope with the sudden loss. While Kalia was happy to see that Mesia managed to bounce back relatively quickly, but distressed at how her brother Rua withdrew from them, preventing them from getting close and trying to help and support him. By the time he recovered from his depression, Kalia found him to be far more reserved than before. Kalia herself dealt with her issues by throwing herself into her training, and enrolling into the Stamarian military. She sought to become a guardian for her family, and to prevent the tragedy that claimed her parents to happen again to others, or the rest of her family.
Kalia’s class was assigned the military instructor Sophia Greenville, who despite her sweet and caring appearance is still capable of being a strict and unrelenting hardass. Luckily, while harsh on her trainees, Sophia was a kind woman who knew when to support and reinforce those who trained under her, in order to produce the best soldiers she possiblu could. Under Instructor Greenville’s tutelage, Kalia soon mastered swordsmanship and sharpshooting, and was also made aware of her own magical potential and was given courses in learning how to wield magic. She soon completed the basic training and was formally inducted into the military, being issued her armor and blade rifle. As she participated in missions and increased her rank, the pay allowed her to support herself and her two siblings, and the family returned to the home that belonged to their parents, finally allowing them to inherit what was left to them.
Over the years, Kalia progressed in the ranks and finally completed her apprenticeship, and was named a Knight of Stamaria. She was awarded an enchanted blade of her own design for this honor, and began training her own mount for battle, a wyvern she named Amatlan. While not on assignment, Kalia was often found looking into the investigation on the attack that slew her parents, which never was able to find links to any known terrorist organizations from the time period, nor were any connections to the Korin uncovered. Undaunted, Kalia still searches for the truth behind the attack, meaning to put an end to it before any tragedy like it could strike again. Her investigations have currently brought her to be stationed in Kallagulia itself, helping to defend the Imperial City from attack while helping Instructor Greenville train recruits in her spare time.
