The Caves of the Everfrost
The Caves of the Everfrost extend deeply through the Everfrost Mountains, winding through the cold labyrinth with endless twists and turns. Down here one can find almost anything. Lairs of massive beasts, rare minerals for mining, and full rivers and lakes lie hidden beneath these mountains. One wrong step could put a traveler over the edge of what appears to be an endless abyss, the darkness swallowing anything that enters without care.
The insides of the caves are made almost entirely of ice, any light causing a coruscating effect across all the surfaces from the ice mixed in with minerals in the icy stone, giant stalactites ornamenting the ceilings of these caves with a precarious point at the end of each, as if it could impale anything beneath it with the slightest change in pressure. Despite how thick the ice is, however, the waters still rage fiercely, keeping them from freezing by the sheer speed of the icy water.
Curiously enough, as one goes deeper and deeper into the caves, the temperature gets gradually warmer, and for this reason most of the lakes that can be found are deeper into the caves. Rumor has it that there are secret entrances to the city of Acera through these caves, but they are uncharted and extraordinarily dangerous to travel. Little things throughout the caves indicate life once living here, such as the Skeletons that can be seen lurking around or stone bridges going over large chasms.
