The Korin operative's attack was swift and brutal--as Zac was unceremoniously flung at him, the terrorist used a powerful, burnt arm to smash him away to the ground at the base of the hill. "You're a Stamarian through and through, friend," he sneered, still grinning. "But that bracelet won't save you. Not from this. Not this time."
The man fell back into the depression, which suddenly glowed with numerous lights. A rising hum filled the air as something green descended from the small canopy of leaves that had been held stationary over the terrorist, and slam close around him.
The ground started to shake as a metallic whine cut through the air. Something mechanical and monstrous was rising up from the hill--hell, it had been the hill in the first place. Dirt and grass and leaves fell in clods as it was shook free from the metal carapace of the machine. Soon, it was fully revealed--the Quadwalker stood on four legs, bearing a pair of massive cannons strapped on either side of its fuselage. A missile-bearing turret crowned its back end, and a long and spindly rod jut out from beneath the cockpit, widening out into a glowing cone at its end.
"Time to die, friend," came the Korin's voice over the machine's loudspeaker.

Ryo couldn't help but back away at the sight of the monstrously huge machine. "W-What the heck is that!?"
That's... That's not good...
"How am I supposed to fight that!? Damn it, Regul! This is what happens when you spare the Korin!" As the futility of fighting sunk in, Ryo couldn't do anything but stare at the ground and hold his head terror. Fear was certainly not something he was used to experiencing.
Get a grip! You can't just give up like this! Now there's no way you can outrun it, so you'll just have to outwit him.
There was a moment of silence following this statement.
This really isn't looking good.

It took a minute for Zac to regain his composure. He didn't quite expect getting flung and slammed. It was then he gazed upon the giant mech that had appeared from below. 'What a great machine! I bet I could pawn that thing off for a whole load!' such thoughts were all that went through his head. He'd also noticed that the pilot was fixated on Ryo. That'd make this prize so much easier to grab.

Within the forward-jutting cockpit of the Quadwalker, the burned man gripped the control sticks as the targeting computer locked into the shocked Stamarian soldier before him. He sneered, thinking that this was almost too easy. This boy was as good as dead, and then he could hand over the interesting bracelet to the rest of the Korin. His fingers squeezed the trigger.
The machine cannons warmed up, and started to fire.

Would you move already!?
"B-But I-" The attack imminent, Ryo threw his arms up and braced himself for the worst. Yet, to his surprise, the attack was being held off by a light barrier. For those few seconds, anyway. The barrier shattered, the blast hit him, and he was sent flying deeper into the forest.
Why didn't you move!? You would have died if I hadn't protected you! Hell, you might have died even with my protection!
Battered and bruised, Ryo staggered back to his feet. "How am I supposed to fight something like that? Even you couldn't stop it's attack!"
Then help me! I can't do everything for you!
"You need my help? I guess I don't have much of a choice, huh...?" Terror suppressed, Ryo scampered deeper into the forest, awaiting his pursuer. "You know, you sound worried. It's kind of weird."
And you sound like a fool. It's typical of you.

Alright, now was definitely the time to move. With haste, Zac did what he could to maneuver around the giant machine and get to higher ground. A tree would probably do nicely, since the hills were alive. As he jumped and climbed, he could almost swear something else was seen briefly in the corner of his eye. Ah well, probably nothing.

As the magical barrier burst, the Korin watched as his quarry was flung away by the blast, and eased off the trigger, causing the whine of the Quadwalker's large machine guns to die away. He watched only for the briefest of moments as the Stamarian staggered to his feet and fled deeper into the jungle.
"This won't be so boring after all," he whispered to himself, delighted. He thrust the control yokes forward, and the Quadwalker took one step forward with a spike-like foot, slamming it into the wet soil, followed by the next. Soon, the machine gave chase at a steady pace. Catching sight of the boy again, he squeezed the trigger once more, spraying the air full of bullets again.

With bullets swarming the air, Ryo did the sensible thing and dived behind a hill for cover, launching a blast of light at the walker's legs in the process. "I hope you can reform that barrier. I'm not all that light on my feet."
I've noticed. Here.
And on cue, the barrier had reformed. "Great! Now if he slips up we'll have a shot at him!"
Rather big if.
"Would it kill you to be a little more optimistic?"
It's not as though it's done you any good.

The hail of bullets ended shortly after Ryo dove behind the hill and fought to create the barrier. The blast he had fired and left a black score mark on the camouflaged green armor of the machine's leg, but little else. There was silence for the briefest of moments, and then it was quickly shattered as the sound of the Quadwalker's joints angling the vehicle at the hill. The ground shuddered with each footstep, the crashing momentarily drowning out the whirring of the servos. But it did not come closer, to step over the hill and crush the boy beneath a metallic wedge of a foot.
Soon, the two of them knew why--the sharp hum of gathering energy cut through the air, along with the telltale build of the energy's wavelength that the Dra-Seroon could no doubt feel.
The conical weapon jutting from beneath the Quadwalker soon charged up to max, and fired. A bright green beam of energy lanced through the air in an instant, the heat distorting the light around it into a wavering mess for several seconds. The hill exploded into a shower of molten dirt and burnt foliage.
But that was not all that the machine had to offer. Something beeped on the console inside the cockpit, and the missile turret atop the machine swerved around. On the targeting computer, the Quadwalker took view onto the other boy climbing the tree, its reticules going from orange to red as it acquired a lock. The first missile fired from the right side of the turret, streaking through the air with a shrill whine and leaving a white smoke trail behind it.
The warhead quickly met its mark, slamming into the base of the tree and blasting it apart into a million splinters.

As the missile took aim, Zac froze in his tracks, but as the it began to fire, a confident look in his eyes formed, and the child swiftly leap forward through the forest faster than before as the projectile went up behind him. Staying on the move in the general area, he continued to examine the machine. All he'd need to spot is the generator, and this would be all over.

Control of his body left him and Ryo dove away from the hill. He was about to whine about it, but the explosion behind him certainly shut him up. It's a good thing that barrier was there, else the impact might have done something nasty. That and the molten scraps of dirt that rested atop said barrier.
Hurry up and move!
Jumping to his feet, he pulled his arm back, having amassed a large store of energy while hiding behind the hill. "Fine! But this comes first!" He then flung the collective force at the cockpit and bolted further into the forest.
Can't you do anything else?
"You know I can't!"

The energy washed over the cockpit of the Quadwalker, causing sparks to fly as the projectile burned at its armor. Briefly, the operative piloting it had to shield his eyes from the radiant blast. When the glow faded, he saw his prey trying once again to flee.
"Come on!" came his voice over the loudspeaker. A short burst of machine cannon fire peppered the air, splintering a pair of trees as it gave chase. "Running away? I guess all you Stamarians are cowards!"
Once more, the pulse cannon slung beneath the mech charged up and fired--heat washed over Ryo as the blast soared far overhead, blowing apart the ground a short distance in front of him. There would be no escape for the soldier.

Hidden in the shadows, the boy continued to analyze the walking machine, trying to spot an opening. 'If I'm right...' he thought, 'then the generator should be located in the back...' Zac soon stopped and paused. How exactly did he know that? Whatever the case, he soon decided that now wasn't the time to think about it, instead opting to continue dashing through the thick forest, looking for a way to reach his target.

Ryo came to a skidding halt. Not due to the blast, but his remark.
Did the man in the building sized machine just call you a coward?
"Yeah! He did!" Gathering as much energy as he could muster in his arms, he turned to face the mech. "To be called a coward by scum like you! I won't tolerate it!"
Ha... I can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with you.
"Now of all times, huh? Man... The first thing we agree on and I'm bound to die in a moment."
I can't say I'm surprised.
"So then! How about we go out in a blaze of glory? Are you with me?"
...Yeah. I'm with you.
"Then let's go! Take your best shot, Korin Scum!" With nowhere left to run, all he could do was grin defiantly, determined to at least inconvenience the man in some way.

"Fine by me, friend."
Once more, the Quadwalker turned and steadied itself, taking aim with its pulse cannon. A green glow emanated from the barrel as it charged, and the pilot grinned as he attained a lock. It only widened as he squeezed down on the trigger.
