Talk about 'em!
I'll just list my top 12.
Now then, in no particular order...
0. Ace Attorney Court Suite - Turnabout Orchestra: Phoenix Wright
A kickass combo song of all that goes on in the courtroom.
The Ace Attorney Court themes themselves are already awesome, so it's no surprise that orchestraited, they be just as good if not better. Combine that with the fact that Phoenix Wright is my favorite AA game, and you've got a pretty strong understanding already. But here's the thing about these PW songs. Each one sounds like you're having a giant battle between minds(which you are.)
Hell, the songs could easily be used as regular battle music. Not to mention the Court parts the funnest parts of the games and most people remember the most. They really capture each moment well. The question of the witness, pressing for information... and then the best of it at all, finding a lie in the testomony, and cornering the witness in their web of lies(That's Pursuit ~ Cornered! for you all).
1. Awakening The Chaos - BlazBlue
Theme ofI-no V-13, a rocking tune of greatness.
Anyone who's a fan of Guilty Gear will be a fan of BlazBlue and vise versa. Especially in the music department. Both games were created and the music composed by none other than the totally awesome Daisuke Ishiwatari. It was hard to choose a single song from the whole soundtrack, being as awesome as it is. The score is similar in style to Guilty Gear X2, yet diverse enough to be its own.
Awakening The Chaos makes the cut with its rocking tune and godly chorus, setting the perfect mood for the final battle against V-13. Not to mention it's basically the main theme of the game anyway, letting it fit in a very nice deal. Another nice side being this song/V-13 has a very nice intro in Open The Gate, giving you that 'OH SHIT!' feeling. The runner up is Black Onslaight, Unlimited Ragna's' theme.
2. Title Screen - Spider-Man X-Men Arcades Revenge
Game might have sucked, but that theme is totally rockin'.
Uh, what can I really say? The game sucked but that title theme is just awesome. It did its job of getting you all excited for the rest of the game... and then you're totally let down. Good lord. Oh well, least it helps establish Tim Follen as a rocking composer. He's done alot of other great songs. Too bad most of 'em are in games that totally blow.
3. Time Battle - Tales Of Eternia
A kickass remix of the Dhaos theme from Phantasia.
As if the Dhaos battle music wasn't great already, this mix upped it way into awesome territory. Tales of Eternia has some of the best songs made by Motoi Sakurabai, and this one took the top for me. Yet again, really hard choice, but it won not only for its haunting and yet somewhat rocking tune, but being the music that plays during the fight against Sekundes.
Now I already talked about Sekundes in the Boss Topic, so I won't go into much detail about him. He's the Supreme Craymel of Time, and he's ready any time to kick your ass. Funny too, since he's a gaint expy of Dhaos. Even having a chunk of Dhaos's' moves in his arsonal. When you do beat this guy, not only does he give you the best accessory in the game, but half of the best spell. Awesome payoffs.
There's alot of great songs from this game. And who did this wonderful soundtrack? That'd be Motoi Sakuraba.. He's done the soundtracks for most of the Tales Of games, so fanboys/girls of whatever game, give him some love. Funny trivia; Legendia was the only mainstream game he didn't do, yet most fans think it has the best soundtrack. Hmm...
4. Brave Sword, Braver Soul - Soul Calibur II
Theme of my main man, Mitsurugi. And kicks ass to match.
Ah yes, Soul Calibur. The series that spawned the question, "What the fuck does that mean?" After the cryptic saying at the beginning of a battle. Of course the song already gets points for being the theme of my favorite character, Mitsurugi. Another point being it came from Soul Calibur II, which was both the best game and had the best soundtrack of the series in my opinion.
So yeah, good thing it made it into Namco x Capcom. Another thing I like about the theme is it really gives you that samurai feel, and as we all should know, samurai kick ass. Plus in a game where some would expect some metal tune to be playing during a fight, this theme still gives you an epic feel during fights or whatever. Only downside is Taki shares this theme. Friggen bitch.
5. If You Still Believe - The Legend Of Dragoon
The main theme of the game, and it is just beautiful.
Ah, now here is a really underrated game! The Legend of Dragoon has everything just about. An awesome story, amazing FMV and in-battle graphics, a really fun and involving battle system, and characters you just couldn't help but love. Really idiotic how most people just pass it off as a Final Fantasy VII and/or The Legend of Zelda clone. What idiots.
Now while the soundtrack was mostly decent with the occasional nice song, If You Still Believe is just beautiful. Being the main theme of the game, it does a great job at capturing a nice essence of the story. And it was the opening FMV song of all things. Another fun note on this game is that it had two composers. One American, and one Japanaese. That's Dennis Martin and Takao Miratsu for you people.
6. Aquatic Ambience - Donkey Kong Country
Might play during a water level(DESTROY), but it's a nice song.
Ah, such a classic. Donkey Kong Country was a good game in general, but it's music? Almost ground breaking. Aquatic Ambience is one of those songs everyone remembers. With its relaxing atmosphere, it sets a nice mood. Especially since you're in a level where you-,HGDJSAHGDjseagKFVMHJVCFV. So yeah. But DKC has a ton of great songs, as I said. Gang Plank Galeon, Fear Factory, the works.
7. Andross Boss Battle - Star Fox Adventures
Come on, this game needs more love. And it has great music too.
Another underrated game! Ah Star Fox Adventures, the game that started off as Dinosaur Planet, but was later changed to a Star Fox game just because! This game has some nice music in it, but this song just gives you that feeling of urgency for when get in your Arwing and take on Andross for that final fight.
8. Stop Hanging DJs - No More Heroes
I had this theme stuck in my head for so long...
I've honestly never played No More Heroes before. But from what I've looked up, it seems like a really good and fun game. Now in my opinion, the sound it just mostly good with a nice song here and there. But this one just stuck with me. Its catchy beat and noises, how it got stuck in my head, and how they use glasses noises... yeah. Awesome song. Now we can only wait for NMH2.
9. With Me - Sonic & The Black Knight
Awesome final battle, with an awesome theme to match.
Ah-ha, now here is a kickass final battle theme. One of the things I like about it other than being totally awesome is that the lyrics can be applied to either Sonic or the Dark Queen. While Black Knight was just and alright game, there's no denying it had awesome music. Hell, that's one thing you can count on all the Sonic games(except Chronicles) to have, a kicking soundtrack.
Another fun fact about this song is that even though it's performed by Emma Gelotte and Tinna Karlsdotter from the band All Ends, the lyrics were written by Crush 40 and the music composed by Jun Senoue. Pretty awesome collaboration. Did I mention this plays during the final battle? The battle is incredibly awesome and fun. It's basicaly what the final fight of Sonic Unleashed should've been.
Crush 40 themselves also did their own version of the song called the "Massive Power Mix" which in my opinion just isn't as good. And yes, I know it's supposed to sound different. The runner up for this song is more than likely What I'm Made Of from Sonic Heroes, as that too was awesome with a fun final fight(mostly).
10. Calling To The Night - Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops
That's right, I think it's better than the MGS main theme.
I've only played a little bit of Portable Ops, but from what I gathered, it's an alright game. This song is just gorgeous if you ask me. Part of the reason being that's sung by the awesome Susan Calloway. And until it came along, Enclosure was my favorite. So third runner up is the original version of the Metal Gear Solid Main Theme. Good stuff.
These games have always been enjoyable. Metal Gear was the first stealth game ever(the original, not the crappy NES port). And Metal Gear Solid also introduced a bunch of traditions to the series. Like the piles of Easter Eggs and all around fun secrets within. Also introduced some awesome voice actors. So wee! MG is one of those series many will always remember.
11. Devils Never Cry - Devil May Cry 3
CURSE YOU BLAZEN! CURSE YOU TO HEAVEN!
I really have to thank my buddy Blazen for getting me hooked on this one. He also basically introduced me to the Devil May Cry series in general. And I discovered just how good(most of) the games were. With their Stylish battle system, the great comedy, and a nice bit of Narm Charm. Also, did you know the series was created by the same guy who created Viewtiful Joe? Awesome.
But yeah, this song has great vocals and awesome insruments. Not to mention it's the theme for what is widely considered the best game of the series, Devil May Cry 3. And just what is that chanting you might ask? Made up language. But man if it doesn't sound cool. Anyway, the series is full of awesome moments, and the credits songs will always rank among those numbers.
12. Wings - Wild ARMs 3
A powerful ending song to one of my favorite games
Ah yes, Wild ARMs is yet another great RPG series. Every game has atleast one point of merit to it, the music... not actually being one of them. Most of the songs are decent at least, but still, nothing amazing expect for one or two from each game. And Wings is one of those for the 3rd game. Being the credits music, it sums up the game really well.
I like the English version better since it just feels much more powerful to me. Dunno if it's just because I don't speak Japanese or something, but whatever. The song also gets extra points since it's from my favorite game of the series. With it's enjoyable cast of characters, good story, and always fun battle system that series has mainained(mostly).
So yeah, there's all my exposition or whatever you call it on all these songs I chose. Hope ya liked it, or atleast used it to kill time. Even though it's more than likely gonna be a case of tl;dr. But ah well. I had fun writing this up.
I'll just list my top 12.
