Wooden shrapnel was bad, right. Despite getting cut up a bit, Zac kept dodging around the best he could. Still no sign of that robot around, if there was one. And yet, he could feel as if another presence were nearby--well, other than the giant robot and the dude flying around it, of course.

A hint of sunlight piercing through the canopy of the rainforest betrayed the position of the last recon drone for the briefest of moments before it slinked back under the foliage it used for cover. It wasn't long before the Quadwalker's console beeped, alerting its pilot to Zac's location.
With a quick pivot, the Quadwalker turned, raking its machine cannons' projectiles across the forest on a collision for the thief.

It seems the cat's been drawn to the other mouse.
The mech had eased up? Good enough. Ryo spun around in the air, took aim at the mech's exposed side, and flung a large sphere of energy at it. Then it struck him. "Hey! I'm not a mouse!"
You make me very, very tired.

The soldier's throw was somewhat off, moving slightly upwards from the Quadwalker's side. But to his credit, Ryo's luck finally threw him a bone--the attack smashed right into the middle of the machine's left-mounted machine cannon. The blast shook the mech's chassis, as the weapon cut its fire. Electricity arced around the impact point before the ammunition in the barrel suddenly ignited, causing the entire weapon to blow apart in a fantastic plume of fire.
"Damn you!" the Korin operatives roared over the loudspeaker. The other cannon continued firing, angling back from Zac towards Ryo.

And thus Zac managed to find the the recon drone, and promptly threw it at the quadwalker mech. That was simple.

The Korin operative within the Quadwalker almost jumped in his seat when the last remaining recon drone was suddenly hurled into the canopy of his mech, smashing it into pieces--how in the hell had that brat even lifted the thing!?
Snarling, he knew he had to finish this once and for all. He could see the Stamarian in front of him, and took aim as the under-slung pulse laser charged up. He knew that, given the soldier's power-up, it wouldn't hit.
But he was certain the final missile he was locking onto him would do the trick.
As soon as the cannon was sufficiently charged, he fired. The light distorted around the beam as it cut through the air at Ryo, and even as the Quadwalker attacked, the missile on the turret above it locked on and readied to launch.

Naturally, he launched upward to avoid the beam. However, the missile had drawn close by the time he noticed it. Blasting it was out of the option, so he took hold of it and pushed it aside, sending it rocketing off into some other part of the forest. "Alright. Let's try this again." His hand charged with energy, he flew toward the mech again, intent on tearing away at the cockpit.

Okay, now that was a good distraction. With no better plan in mind, Zac figured that now was a good time to try and get at the engines again. Leaping from what was left of the area's' trees, he landed back onto the back of the Quadwalker, glancing around for the hole he'd made earlier. Once it was spotted, the boy gripped his blade once more stabbed on through.

Without the recon drones to notify him, the Korin pilot wasn't able to detect and stop Zac from leaping onto the Quadwalker. But he could still see that bastard Stamarian in front of him. The mech lifted up on its legs and charged up the pulse laser once more, taking aim even as Zac thrust his blade into the outer engine block.
Damage to the machine's chassis and legs caused the Quadwalker to wobble with the movements, and the damage to the energy transfer cabling that Zac partially severed took its toll. The shot went wild, searing the air alongside of Ryo as he flew in. The Korin operative panicked, screaming a curse in his native tongue as he tried to swing the Quadwalker's cockpit away from the charging soldier.
Ryo's attack cleaved through the laser cannon's barrel and through the weapon's main body, causing it to explode violently beneath the Quadwalker. Snarling, the Korin realized that he was down to a single weapon that would soon be out of ammo, just like the missile turret.
A klaxon went off on the machine, causing his heart to stop--the engine had begun to fail.
With an unearthly groan of over-torqued metal, the Quadwalker tottered sideways and collapsed, crashing hard against the ground.

Zacarias lept from tumbling mecha and watched it crash into the ground. Letting out a sigh of relief, he placed his sword back to his hip. It was all over now, by the looks of it. Quite the fight though, had it not been for Ryo over there, he probably wouldn't've stood a chance against that Quadwalker. Wait -- How did he know what that thing was called, or even how it functioned?
Infact, how did he managed to fight against it so readily? This whole experience was leaving the boy confused. He gribbed his head, unsure of what exactly had even gone on in the past moments, most of it being a quick blur.

Ryo glanced over at the thief after his dismount. He was grabbing his head... Perhaps it was the siren? That would be dealt with shortly. He walked on over to the mech, patting the kid on his shoulder as he passed, and hopped atop it. "Surrender now, Korin. There's little else you can do... Oh. And turn off whatever's making that noise."

Sneering, the Korin operative knew that this machine was finished. Time to escape. He slammed his hand down on the ejection button, grinning at the knowledge he could lose the two brats in the resulting chaos.
The machine whined as sparked crackled across the panel, the canopy struggling and failing to open. The hinge for the canopy whirred and quickly died--Ryo's blast had fused parts of it to the rest of the cockpit, sealing him in.
The grin died on his face.
He looked up, his good eye displaying shock and outrage at what had happened. The klaxon continued blaring, notifying him to the danger, but he was powerless to stop it. Things were rarely like movies--the Quadwalker did not shine with light through its damaged armor, or give off some sort of rising hum.
The Korin simply cringed and threw his arms over his head as the Quadwalker's power reactor went critical and the entire machine was engulfed in a powerful explosion.

Ryo was flung back by the explosion, yet another light barrier being the only thing between him and death. "What... What just happened?"
I saved you from certain death.
"And the Korin...?"
If there's anything left of him, it's tiny and scattered about the forest.
Ignoring the terrible joke, Ryo rose back to his feet and went to check on the kid. He wasn't all that keen on dealing with his first murder after all. "...Are you all right?"

Explosions, good wake up call. He was scratched and dirtied, but overall his physical condition was alright. "I... I guess so. What happened to the guy in his robot?" Ryo was obviously fine, that magic bracelet of his keeping him safe. This simple day had all become confusing in one big moment.

"Well... He's uh... Around, you could say."
Bad joke, huh?
"You were rather effective today. Not a moment of hesitation despite that mechanical monster's assault." He stared down at the kid, a bit apprehensive. "Why is that?"
